Dharmavathy offers excellent scope for ragaalapana and a lovely proliferated rhythmical rendition while this is the built-in USP ...say balance between melody and rhythm! Vocalist Balaji Shankar knows this and rightly follow this doctrine and he sang at his basic Madhyama sthayi and in good eloquence without giving any chance to raise octave. Here the Dikshitar kriti - 'Paramdhamavathi jayathi Paarvathy Paramesha Yuvathi ' in ragam Dharmavathy, the beautiful praying to Mother 'kamakshi' is presented melodiously . Lovely rendition of the only Charanam n the niraval @ 'param jothi Vikaasini' and the swarakalpana thereafter evident;y proved his skill to sing with the enchanting balance between melody and rhythm.....sweet tone and diction He was well supported by the Mridamgam vidwan. Very sweet recital indeed!!!
