- "Preußens Gloria" ("The Glory of Prussia" or "Prussia's Glory") was
written in 1871 after the Kingdom of Prussia's victory in the Franco-Prussian war, which led to the unification of the German states into the new Prussian-led German Empire. As part of the victory parade of the returning troops, the march was performed for the first time in public in Frankfurt (Oder), where Piefke's garrison was based.

I’m very late and an American, can agree. I feel the US should have avoiding getting in the war, or entering before we did in our time. I also wish world war 1 was avoided.

The picture shows Emperor Frederick III who was just 99 days in service as he quickly died by cancer.
I know. What a pity! I would have loved to see the German Empire prosper under him as Emperor until 1905! He could have encouraged liberal reforms and could have made a stronger Alliance with Britain so that Germany would have a more powerful ally in 1914 and did not suffer that much from the fact that it was encircled. Wilhelm ll would have become a better Emperor, since he could have learned governing like a constitutional monarch by his father.

This is one of the finest German military marches! Absolutely wonderful! BTW, the painting reproduced here is by the great Anton von Werner and represents Kaiser Friedrich III (in white Kürassier uniform) at a reception in the Berliner Schloss, the little man on the right is the painter Adolf Menzel.

Dr. Ludwig, do you have any ideas on how Germany could have won WW1? (aka. how the world could've been better)
I think if the USA wouldn't have joined the war, Germany would have won in the east and have a white peace (no one wins) in the west.
Another way is, that Germany attacks Russia harder at the beginning and only defends the border in the west. Maybe England would join only later if Belgium isn't attacked.
