what i love the most out of these gameplay videos is that they don’t look choreographed, they look like two coworkers at french bread just going ham and then finishing the game and being like “yeah we could use that one for the new gameplay video”.

Interesting how they gave 1 bar + the potential for 4 bars to the loser of the last round. For a comeback mechanic, this one at least promotes smart meter management rather than giving flat out passive buffs

@@gabrielcomer5230 It's also really cool in the sense that it guarantees that both players are always going to reap the benefits of the comeback mechanic, which doesn't always happen in other games (Marvel 3, Tekken 7, even DBFZ sometimes). It's very hard to say it's unfair in any possible way.
KoF always does this. Not only that it also:
Shortens the bar, letting you reach the next level faster.
Lengthens Max Mode bar, letting you stay in max mode longer.

Your talking about blood heat? Shiki had 1 bar but when he burst he was able to use the super that required all 4 bars. And yes your right blood heat will last depends on how much meter you have.

@@WarriorV8 A common complaint about Melty as of the past few months is that the character and outfit designs are bland, or "don't have drip"
It's enough that that one point is a dealbreaker for many, which is a shame, but most of them got onboarded with the FGC with Strive and only have Strive as their basis, so I guess I can't blame them

Of course their design philosophy is different than fighting game characters.

Never played the older Melty games so don't know if this is new or not, but I love the detail of death lines appearing when Shiki hits his opponent with his knife.
This is a brand new game in the series, to go along with the Tsukihime remake that finally released a few weeks ago.
Thats hit effects from the previous game Under Night In Birth being reused but the super is the actual death lines

@@Patcheresu nah those are blue versions of the death lines, notice how Ciel doesn't have them. And unless I really never paid attention to them these don't look like the effects from uni, I could be wrong tho
I always wanted to main Shiki mostly because Tsukihime made me love the guy. This video sealed it for me.

Yeah most people hate him because of Tsukihime. But I like him a lot (more than Shirou). *SPOILER AND MY CRINGE IMPRESSION*
Sarcastic teasing carefree nice guy to cold blooded psychotic killer, He fears death so he tries to enjoy life. He is also very mature about life ( He never threatened to "kill" his friends instead using "R" word instead). He might be stupid and dense but he act his best and follow his sensei's word. He is also self reflecting and responsible. He is selfish but also selfless at time (he "kill" himself in Akiha route and he use his eyes for his friends which bring him nearer to death).
Shiki saw right through that fake cross up everytime 👀 🔪

Oh, it seems meter charging is a universal mechanic, not just something Kouma can do.
Back in Current Code iirc only F-moon characters could do it, guess they decided to incorporate it into this game on every char since they removed moon types
I love how they say something even while on recovery or something like an air dash. The fight feels more real.
This would be my first melty blood experience and I couldn't wait!

@@erinlear8423 Doing wild shit on wakeup was already strong in AACC, I have no fucking clue why Kamone decided the game needed UNI chainshift available to both players at round start ontop of making every shield interaction layered RPS. I hope that’s just gameplay demonstration and that shit isn’t as strong as it looks, or the oki is fucked up enough that it doesn’t matter.
@@Vsolid If you've looked closely, especially on the Ciel gameplay vid, you can do meaty 2A/5A and it whiffs during the moon drive activation. So it won't be a frame 1 invuln -> frame 2 true neutral situation, but instead it seems like you essentially delay your wakeup by a few frames and get a screen freeze to confirm the situation.
Tohno also did meaty 2B here on Ciel's moondrive > shield counter, and somehow he got to shield after, which I don't really understand how that's possible.
Moon drive into DP jump cancel is fucked up tho, but I'll just throw my plants on fools anyway

So far, based on these two fight showcases, the songs seem tied to the stage cause this song played in Kohaku's trailer and this was the stage she fought on, and the previous video was on the stage Arc fought in (with the same music from her trailer)

Never played any Melty, so I don't know if this is a carry over from the old games, but at 2:06 Ciel says "Tohno-kun," right? If the characters all have unique voice lines for fighting different characters, that would be sick!
this is a new thing and they have been promoting this aspect since day 1 that the author of the series(Nasu, note the series started as visual novel) really loved the Granble intros so he wanted to take those and take it even further with way more voicelines mid fight
Yes, Unique Dilogue was confirmed and proboted since day 1 together with Rollback.
unique dialogue is one of my favorite small things in a fighting game so im glad we seem to be getting a ton of them from what we've seen and heard

More of the cut-ins for Shiki should have the Mystic eyes activated. Shiki looks really dope with the mystic eyes active.
Fun fact: Whenever Tohno does an EX Edge, the cut-in looks like he's doing Nanaya's pose (see MBAACC Nanaya EX edge cut-ins for comparison).

I just noticed that getting fatal countered while in heat state will hinder your metter.
Damn.
Looking closely at the previous match video around the 48 seconds mark I could see that a stray hit without counter properties still reduced the heat duration by a noticeable amount so it just seems to be that if you get hit in general your meter will go down.

im still lost on how the moon works in the game. are they getting rid of the moon variants?
Yes there are no moon variants anymore. A good amount of the characters lean towards their F-moon versions from MBAACC with maybe some of their H and C mixed in.
The "moon" you see underneath the characters faces at the top of the screen is a mechanic similar to V-trigger in Street Fighter 3/5.

2:07 I have a feeling with wake up Moon Drive being a thing, safe jumps like this will become the meta. Then when you don't have moon guage, or you get conditioned to think that your opponent will safe jump and you want to save the guage you will have to eat a mixup
