Lawo is being used more an more for broadcasting over here in the US from what I'm hearing from different people. The Grammys that just passed not to long ago use a Lawo console for broadcasting purposes. The rep that i spoke to for Lawo at the 2015 AES in NYC said they're moving in the Live sound direction and hope to really make a big splash in Live Sound in the near future. So maybe the mc2 series might be that big introductory splash he was talking about.

Wow! I had no idea about the LAWO stuff, are you not well known outside of the US? It seems everyone uses Digico, Soundcraft, or Yamaha these days. That console looks amazing!

sorry for slow reply. Lawo is a German brand (all engineering and manufacturing is done in the company's headquarters in Rastatt, close to Black Forrest) and quite popular in Europe, Japan and China. In the US, the brand is mainly associated with broadcast, which also is the origin of the consoles. Therefore any questions regarding audio quality and reliability are probably obsolete. In fact, main reason for using the Lawo consoles in live and theater applications is audio quality: this is an audio precision tool for those who want to achieve clarity and no coloring of the sound. Recent installs for theaters are quite prestigious, including the Elbphilharmony in Hamburg and the Philharmonie de Paris in France. But also in the US there are quite some nice theater and studio install around.
