      That's amazing, he was so talented! Does the talent run in the family? I read his obituary in the paper and it mentions his children. Did any of them go on to do music?

    I was at Sunnyland's 80th birthday party on Halsted St.
    Knew Hubert, too.
    They don't make them like that anymore.

      Amen. I'm guilty as well. I had absolutely no exposure to this music coming up. It was Cream, Jimi, Led Zep on the radio that made me pick up the guitar. 12 years later of playing albums and guitar myself, I keep digging and finding more and more about the roots of the blues, America's musical legacy to the world.

    • @bluesatsunset
      @bluesatsunset  Před 9 lety +6

      Gibson Blues Indeed. My father brought me up on a strict diet of this, Wolf, Muddy, Johnson et-al. I didn't hear my first Zeppelin album until 1979. I was 10 years old. 3 years later, a was picking my way through Rising Sun on a really old Gibson in front of about 200 other 12 year old kids wearing a cut off denim jacket - With the biggest fucking Number of the Beast patch in the back you could imagine. The looks I had were unreal.

      GIFT....lol I guess if your a white guy . I assure you these gentlemen and their sacrifices playing this music to pay rent and eat while running from lynchers and evil people who wanted to kill them for no good reason may have considered it a skill set more so than any gift. I am truly glad you are enjoying their work at least.
