    I found your vid late last year. I have an 04 Toyota Tundra 4X4 Access Cab. I bought it brand new back in March 2004. I have just finished doing essentially the same suspension rebuild that you have done. Bilstein 6112's, Camburg long travel upper control arms, new OEM lower control arms, bushings, ball joints. New bump stops. Same add a leaf kit with Bilstein 5120's in the back. New Method Bead grip 16/8" and 285 BFG's. It came out so nice!!! Also new Brute Force Fab bumpers, a 10,000 lb Smittybilt winch and a GFC camper shell. The new suspension works great, especially with the added bumper/winch weight. It seems more and more stuff is starting to be available for these older Tundras...

    A impact wrench is a life saver when working on a vehicle. I rebuilt the front suspension on my wife Ford Escape and it took half the amount of time. I have a Ridgid impact wrench, wish I would have bought if sooner.

    I'm going with JBA UCAs. For $520 for the pair which come with the ball joints it's really the best deal going and you can't beat the greasable zirks. Secondly I've read a lot of conflicting information about the 6112's and the final height they give vs advertised. Particularly with 4wd trucks it seems the lift is less for some reason (maybe added weight). So I've seen other guys say to use King (but they are $$$). My issue is I have a 2wd that I plan to convert to 4wd manual, yes, 5-speed manual with manual xfer case, so I'm trying to carefully plan out the suspension right now.

As far as the ride goes with the add a leaf, with no trailer on it, how does it ride? Ive always worried that it would ride too rough with out the trailer hooded up on it.

    Nice truck. Can't wait to buy one soon.
    Not to be a that guy. But you should invest in a pitman arm puller for this job. Whacking metal with a big hammer can fracture the component. Which can cause a failure down the road. That's paired with the added new tension and pressure created from the lift.
    Just a heads up. I've seen a pretty scary spindle failure that was blatantly caused by the classic BFH method.

      The spline style lugs, meaning you need the tool to remove them all. I forget the brand,, I got them from discount tire

    You keep saying you don't need the overload spring but if you ditched it you would lose about an inch of lift. It's a thick piece of metal acts like a lift block.

      It's kind of hit or miss, but lots of t100 and tacoma parts will bolt in or be converted easily. Check the internet forums before you start buying stuff though 👍

    How are your cv axles holding up?

    • @berryreading4809
      @berryreading4809 Před 3 lety

      I hope hes checking for that infamous grease splatter! But I swear the clamps on some of the remanufactured CV axles are better sealing than the factory boot clamps! Sadly the CV cage is usually weaker though 🙁
