    This is so helpful! My husband cannot find the length he needs as they don’t make them! This will allow me to hem his pants to the exact length he needs!! Thank you so much!! ❤❤

      You are so welcome! Always wash the pants first so doesn’t shrink after doing the alteration. Cheers!

    This is how I hem pants! I used to fold, pin and press. It’s just quicker, easier and neater doing it like this!
    Thanks for your informative videos!

    I just have to take a minute to say how grateful I am to have found your channel. You are clearly a professional and I enjoy all the little "insider" tips such as how to cut those threads, etc...
    As I am a perfectionist and I can tell you are, I totally appreciate that aspect of your videos! Everything is done with precision, exactness, and perfection! As far as pants hemming videos I have probably watched hundreds of them, and none of them are as good as this one. Also, as an aside, I also appreciate that you like and reply to & like each and every comment! I have found over the years that as CZcamsrs get more popular, they never bother to reply to their commenters, which is ridiculous. Those are the people to which I quickly unsubscribe! Thanks & keep on filming. 🎥

      Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. That’s a lot of hemming videos you have watched! Glad you like mine. You are correct that I am a perfectionist ( or try to be). If someone is paying me their hard earned money, I must provide them with quality work. If someone is kind enough to leave a comment, the least I can do is reply. ( I don’t reply to cruel and nasty comments). More vids to come.
      Have a great week! 😊

    Great tutorial. Thank you 😊 On heavier weight fabrics I normally use Gutermann top stitch thread and sew hem with fabric right side up.

    Great 👍👍👍 video !! Very detailed, informative 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 well done Angela!
    I sent it to my DIL and son, he pays way too much for hemming. You made this easy for us to handle and lots of neat tips like … how to get the other line marked.
    I struggled with that …not anymore now , thanks to your tutorial.
    I guess I can charge my son for alterations now…. Steak dinner is good for services rendered …LOL . BBQ season coming up .
    We had snow yesterday ☹️ but it’s melting today .
    Thank you 🙏🏻 for teaching us!

      Yes you can definitely charge your son for hems! Please check out my video for taking in jeans as well.

    Excellent video! I have to shorten all my jeans and dungarees a couple of inches and, except for the marking, have essentially been doing it this way. Getting through seven layers of fabric over that flat felled side seam can be a challenge!

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  Před 2 lety +1

      You can do a little cheat by trimming away the fabric inside the seam of the hem allowance between the stitching, and hammer it a bit before stitching. I generally never trim anything in case the hem ever needs to be lengthened ( client shrinks it..)

    I always want the pants washed before I shorten them. Some fabrics will get shorter and tighter after they have been washed. I like the idea of marking where the folded fabric touches the floor. My right leg is one inch longer than my left one. This video will help me do a better job in the future. I have never heard of waxed Taylor's chalk. Will it stain if you should iron it? I have no idea where to buy some. Most of the marking chalks offered here today are useless. Bar soap scraps works well and is longer lasting. Bar soap does come in colors (even black). It is easy to wash out when finished. Thank you for this video.

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  Před 2 lety

      I use tailors chalk on everything except silks. I even use on light coloured fabric. It will disappear when ironed. Always test on a scrap first. You can also use vanishing ink pens. Thanks for watching🙂

    Would you be able to do a video on how to take in a men's dress shirt? I see you're the only one that does the flat felted seam correctly online and I'd like to see it done on a shirt. In addition, would it be possible to do tailoring of the sleeves of a dress shirt men's? There are no videos on this that I could find.
    Lastly, could you take in and taper legs of a pair of men's dress pants as well and casual chinos.

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  Před rokem +1

      used polyester thread. I do not use that machine anymore so can’t remember. Best to check your tension and stitch length on.a scrap

    I measured the front only. And he needs 5" minus the sem. But I can still do this method right? The dress pants he bought have a raw hem at the bottom, so nothing to start with

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  Před 2 lety

      Dress pants should have a blind hem and not this style of finish. This method is best for jeans and casual pants.
