    Im impressed on how far these aircrafts have came. I remember one my grandfather had in the 90s. That was the last one I had seen so I am blown away on this fighter jet and the technology involved.

    I really really want to like this better than my Freewing F18 but I’ll choose the Freewing over this one most trips. It has great features and flies good but the Freewing one is just better. Maybe I’ll change my mind when I get more flights on the eflight but after 2 flights each with long rotations, I’m just not sure 🤔 I will. Great video gentlemen

  • @speedtwin5t
    @speedtwin5t Před 4 lety +3

    Ryan , you are correct. If the nose gear was a little bit longer it would give the plane a more positive wing incidence which would in turn would help shorten the take off run. Great flights. Put on some of those nerf whistles Bobby !

  • @stone10473
    @stone10473 Před 4 lety +7

    Also "high rate" should always be used for slow speed / takeoff to compensate for the low airspeed and airflow. Actual jets reduce flight control deflection as the aircraft increases speed to help maintain a constant "feel". Best to have 3 rates. Takeoff and landing rate, low rate (smooth maneuvers) and high rate (aggressive maneuvers) but less than T/O and Landing rate.

  • @ricchatrc
    @ricchatrc Před 4 lety

    Love the way you show off these birds. That takeoff, that rotation, may have been less sudden than expected, but it looked so real and life-like when it was airborne - just like the real thing. Not a direct up take-off, but a sliding thru the air take-off as it continued to build up speed with its landing gear still down. That looked awesome. In the air, outstandingly fast! The landing - well what can I say......reminded me of a quick drop aircraft carrier type landing. Only thing missing was the hook and towline to bleed off speed, and of course, the Top Gun sound track to cap things off.

    The full-scale F/A-18 has both rudders canted full inward on launch to create drag above the c.g. This helps rotation on takeoff. Maybe the model is more scale than we thought.

    Love the way you pilot these birds. Noted the general struggle to get her to rotate on takeoff. In fact the real Hornets have always had this issue, which is why you see them use fully toed-in rudder on takeoff - this was a McDonnell Douglas workaround applied to the flight control logic from early days.
    Many people would wonder why the heck any aircraft would increase drag on the most critical part of a flight and the reluctance to rotate is why.
    Keep it up guys, beautiful stuff!

    1) Since your flights on it, have you had any linkage issues with left or right elevators?

    Question Pilot Ryan: I didn't understand what you meant by a negative value to get your up elevator mix on the flap. Would you explain it in a different way? Also, I just picked up this jet from my LHS yesterday and I had a insert for page 7. It shows 10 degrees for 50% flap and 15 degrees for 100% flap. My manual is like yours, it says 6% and 10% elevator. Did you get that insert? think the 10% and 15% would help on the roll out? Seems logical. Thanks. SJ

    Flew my first flights today. Weather was in the mid 50’s winds 2mph gusting to 10 mph right down the asphalt runway. Beautiful flying plane, but I suggest all view pilot Ryan’s maiden of the EFLITE F18 for some helpful hints. My experience aligned well with Ryan. Definitely use high rate elevator and mid flaps for takeoff. I used a 5000 mAh battery weighing 740g placed 1 3/4” aft of the forward lip of the battery compartment. CG approx at 78mm from where the leading edge meets the fuselage with gear down. As a Ryan indicated the recommended elev mix with flap is negative on the DX8G2 not positive as shown in the manual. Even with the elev trim horn adjusted full forward I still required some nose up trim on my radio to maintain level flight flaps up at mid power. Not sure I want to move the CG further aft not knowing how much margin remains, but maybe with more flights under my belt I’ll give it a try.
