  • New addition to the arsenal! Let's take a quick look at my new 6" Trim Saw by Hi-Tech Diamond. It's not a new machine, but it's been well-maintained. I needed a saw for trimming facet rough, and the 6" saw seemed like a good compromise between being small enough not to lose precious rough, while also big enough to handle trimming down larger pieces from rockhounding adventures.
Be sure to check out Jared's original review of the saw (link's in the video).

I got this 6-inch saw for Christmas today and was looking for a demo video. Thank you! I'll get it set up this week

Very nice saw and nice that they work so quickly. It seems as though the cheaper blade works just fine. I will have to check out the video on the cheaper blades 😊

having a trim saw is going to make all the different i the world! And the different between a tile saw and a lapidary saw is like night and day. You will waste so much less material with the trim saw and the lapidary saw can cut the same size material, but makes much finer cuts and leaves way less scratches in the material. Thats awesome Patrick! And thank you Jared! Hes such a nice guy!

Great tool and those were some fun thunder eggs. The saw should be nice trimming up your facet rough for sure. I believe these Hi-Tech saws do not want to be used with oil at all. My 10" is water as well and I love the fact that I can just dump and clean each time I use it. It's a bit of a beast for cutting facet rough, you've got the perfect thing in that 6".

I'm glad you have the saw and can put it to good use.
I had an idea about the water of the vise that I never attempted but you could. I was thinking about making a a little dam out of a plastic bottle and just hot gluing it in place, perhaps you could make something like that as well.

  • @RufotrisRootedRockhound

Very nice! 🤘 having a saw is AWESOME! I see you did NOT do what I did when I got my saw and push far too hard and rush it and crumble some rocks haha.

Awesome cut man! I've discovered that the thick Notched blade has worked the best for me for chalcedony
