I'm obviously not the original poster, but it looks like if you go backwards through a switch and it's not switched to line up with the train, the switch itself is triggered to automatically line up. I think it's just a mechanical linkage that's part of the switch design - pretty elegant. Too bad you can't get fully electronic mechanisms like the German Marklin trains, but to duplicate that in Marklin would cost many thousands of dollars, and sadly I'm not kidding :). D

They are controlled with monoswitches - special section of tracks that make motor stop or revert when it reaches them. That's why trains on the video always stop or revert in the same spots. Monorails seem to be old, around the same generation as the 9V train system, but I cannot see an external voltage control remote. Also, the driving motor seems to be the white cylinder component at the center of the trains. Does this drive a wheel or rubber belt of some kind that fits in the center groove of the track ? I imagine it must be to allow it the ramp movement.
