I was twelve in 1981. It was my first time at a skating rink. Spinoff on Lansdowne street in Boston. I was enthralled with the place and the experience. I'll never forget the 'couples only' skate that night. It was to Foreigner's Waiting For A Girl Like You. It was magic. I'd give anything to be able to go back to that time.

OMG the blisters I would get from skating all night. I had so much fun that I wouldn't even notice until I took my skates off.
I am lucky to have grown up in the '80's! I lived at our local roller rink, and I eventually started playing roller derby in my late 30's. Roller skating is in my blood.
Where was that at? What rink? Is it still open?

There's plenty of kids skating these days. I'm almost 50 and I still roller skate at the rink

@@M1N1Girl007 Me too. Im 45 now and support my local rink as much as I can. All the people who reply about wishing this generation was similar to ours need to get the grandkids some quads or inlines and take them to the local roller rink. Come on people lets make this happen!!!

The 80s in full effect!! Man the 80 were a trip! Fun times. We had 5 different rinks here In CC.TX Too bad they all went out of business with the exception of only 1.
Hopefully you are supporting that rink by busting out those old school quads or bare minimum taking the kids or grandkids to the rink. Support your local roller rinks before its too late. Much love to my generation but lets get to work.
Definitely 1989, Samantha Fox's "I Wanna' Have Some Fun" was 1988 but Secret Societies' "We Belong Together" was 1989. The Z-Cavaicci triple-pleated pants scream 1989 as well!
I recently bought a vintage pair of Z cavariccis off of ebay. I love those ridiculously looking pants haha.

Oh I grew up from age 9 until 38. I’m 46 but it’s hard to get anybody to still keep it up. I still have my Rydell boot 595 and my hot pink laser wheels. Those were popular in the late early 90s. And very expensive I might add. LOL thanks for the nostalgia.

there's a sad documentary of the death of roller rinks and it's really a shame....roller skating could save our youth: healthy, social, fun, real music and incorporates dancing and single free style w/ couple skating....it's everything!
Yes thats true but we still have active rinks in most urban areas and even some in the middle of nowhere. Support your local roller rink and get out there and show these kids whats its like to meet face to face. No excuse folks get active, get your kids or grandkids some quads or inlines and take them skating on a Friday or Saturday night you wont be disappointed.

At my 1980's roller skating rink, the DJ would dress up as Snoopy and come out for a song
I used to go to this skating rink around those years,by looking at the clothing and that they mention the Dolphins and Heat but not the Marlins,definitely late 80's,maybe 1990,I don't think 1991 cause those baggy cavaricci pants were out by 1991-92.

I'm a former ice hockey player and got back into roller skating after over a decade.
No excuse to not get back to what you loved. Im 45 now and take my kids every chance I get. I wouldnt call myself a great skater but im competent. I also got my kids doing competitve inline speed skating at our local rink. I know this is a older post but if you get this reply I hope your doing well and see your on the floor soon!
