- If you own a Samsung TV that still has sound, but you can't get an image to appear on the screen, there is a simple solution that doesn't require you to take apart your TV.
When this happened to me, I immediately assumed my TV had a hardware issue that would require a technician to repair, but the fix turned out to be much simpler than that.
Here's exactly what I did to get the picture back.
(timestamps)
00:00 - start
00:15 - power-cycle samsung tv
01:43 - check every connection
03:20 - try using a different external device
4:04 - hardware issues (T-Con, main, and power board replacement)
07:15 - samsung support

Thank you so much. I don’t have a Samsung tv but your advice helped me restore the picture to my LG
Excellent site. We solved problem with initial steps. Thanks
Thanks for the great advice. Tv still not working but I had steps to follow.
You are awsome! The first step worked perfectly! Thanks for taking time when you made this video to help all of us! Our family is really thankful!
You're welcome!

Great 👍
Thank you so much! On and off solved the black screen!
Absolutely brilliant you explained it wonderful,my blaupunkt TV unfortunately is still not working (sound)but (no picture) I tell you I bought this wonderful 3DTV +glasses about at least 12 years +ago,it must of been £250-£300( Sainsburys in uk ,its got everything, and for quality, and extras it would give all the big boys a run for there excess prices, its been brilliant
Thank you so much!! I powered the tv and my pic is back! Life saver 😂
Glad I could help!
A lot of this makes no sense to me... If the HDMI or other connection stopped working you would still get a blue screen telling you there is no input.
If you get sound but no picture, there is input. So the TV wouldn't say no input or give a blue screen. There are a number of reasons for this, a faulty hdmi cable, faulty hdmi socket in the TV or connected device etc.
Thanks. Had the same symptomes like you. Tejp helped 😂
it worked. Thank you
I have reset my TV as per your advice, there is picture now, your assistance is appreciated my friend, thank you soo much

Glad you found it!
Thank you for fixing my TV it works 🎉
Very clear information. I didn't hear about my specific situation, but I still did all the steps, just in case, and no luck. I actually see the image, but it's very dark. I tried adjusting the image settings, but it's not working. Are there any other suggestions for me? Thank you.
Hi Michael. Thanks for your article on the website about the LG TV but all of a sudden the ON/OFF toggle doesn't exist anymore and the Advanced Settings is grayed out on the Network Selection.
It used to exist and scan networks but tonight as I was watching Netflix, all of a sudden this happened. 😔 RSVP
Thank you for your tips.
Power cycling fixed mine! Thank you so much!
Power cycling fixes it for me, but it has to be done every single time the TV has been off for a while, which sometimes means 2-3 times per day. The backlight is definitely on but no picture. In our case we have a One Connect and it's only the screen power which needs powercycling - not the One Connect box.
Samsung came and took my tv for repair. Tu700 series has problems with the motherboard, its still under warranty. Sound no picture.
I tried the power cycling with no luck...My TV works for a few weeks and then the picture disappears again for a few days/weeks and then works again..I dont know anymore😢
I disconnected everything from my one year old TV, and tried the first few methods. Nothing worked. Thankfully, I bought a protection plan from Walmart. Nobody makes quality products like the used to.
How are we suppose to check the input if we can’t see the screen???
😂same
@slumcitymarv7050 some folks don't realize that they are just on the wrong input. It's a simple check but typically not the problem.
My Samsung does the black TV randomly. It’s frustrating. The turning off for 3 minutes works, but hoping it doesn’t develops into something bigger. I’ll try the off button solution and see how well that solves the issue.
It worked although now I have a 1 thin white
Line thru the tv from left to right
My TV was working just fine then as I was going through a menu it blinked out all these power cycling "tricks" aren't doing 💩 I hear the sound in the background but no picture but every so often it flickers what I should be showing.
But have you fixed it
If the tv power button light is blinking red when plugged in??? What is that???
Well crap my power supply thing is bad. But at least I learned how to diagnose
How do you see if your TV is at the right source if you don't have a picture?? Also, my TV is ignoring the remote when you try to turn the TV off.. Everytime I have to kill power to it to turn it off
If the power button light at the back of the television is blinking red, then what may be the problem???
Power cycling works
Great, thanks for letting us know!
It didn't work
Ok. So I've tried all i can think of to get my Samsung to work. I always have these problems with Samsung TV's! They just suddenly black out. The LED works as I can tell bc the lights still blink behind the TV, but the screen is still black. No picture and no sound, although im not sure there shoukd be sound if no picture anyway. However, when i open the tv and remove the ribbon cable from the main board but keep it connected to the t con board, the led lights stop blinking and remain on and the tv makes a soundcas if it has just powered on and pressing the remote buttons causes sound on the tv as it does when searching from the app bar or toggle, but of course no picture. When i plug the ribbon cable back in to the main board, it goes back to black screen, blinking led lights and doesn't make the power on sound. I have tried taping some pins on the cable but at best i only got lines on a black screen. I now have 2 tvs, both samsung, doing the exact same thing. Does this sound like the ribbon, tcon board or main board problem?
I just ordered a power supply board😢I doubt that it is the problem . Now after watching more videos I see it’s probably the backlighting. I see a faint picture, that’s what made me think power board
Mine too has the faint pictures and sound is okay. Did you fix the problem? What was the issue?
@@susanngadima5813 Backlight😡and it was not a small task for me to fix so I sat it out by the trash🤬
It also blinks on as of it's turning on but cant
My tv it's indicting red on power button blinking but can't turn on
Nothing worked. Tried everything. Samsung s95C DOA.. I better get a new TV with white glove setup.
So what did you do? I’m having the same problem. Same model. 😢
We FINALLY convinced Samsung to take it back. It proved difficult as the return window expired. (The tv sat in the box while we waited to move in).
We ordered a new one (cheaper I might add since they went on sale) and it’s working perfectly. Good luck!
You found the best solution!
Nothing here has worked. Help please
what if you can't reach the back of the TV because it is mounted?
I just cut the power to my house at the meter box and did the procedure and turned the power back on and that worked for me, but I’m not an electrician, but it’s just a flick of a switch, so use your best judgement
If you have a flat wall mount, there isn't much room to get behind the TV, but sometimes you can start to take it off the wall and it will give you more space to work. It might be better to just take it off the wall until you can get it to work.
I always use a full motion wall mount so I can easily access the back of the TV.
Can you recommend a tv that you would buy? Not the cheapest but middle of the road? I don’t want to buy a new tv that’s going to be problematic… lol
@kwclove7623 I've actually always used Samsung TVs and haven't had any problems. Based on the amount of views for this video and others I have for Samsung TVs, they clearly have their issues at times. The only others I would consider would be Sony or LG.
There are no connections into my tv. Pressing the menu button doesn't show the menu screen. Samsung should stick to just making phones, I have a Toshiba that I've had longer than the Samsung Smart TV, and it's still working. I have Samsung appliances as well, all malfunctioned after 2 years and had to get them serviced. Samsung monitors are also crap, no VESA mount holes.
I guess my T-Con board is focked. There is sound, backlight but nothing else.
Powering down as suggested, did nothing, Still no picture. Guess samsungs last only 10years ( mine)
How are you supposed to use the menu if there’s no picture
Exactly
Tried all the steps..It did absolutely nothing..Still black.
When I place my phone lighter on the screen I I can pictures but still there's black screen.
I can see pictures....
No picture no power button , just lines here and there coming from a center star
common sense BS.
Nothing worked!
You are lost!!
