Most certainly, if gravity is present, its effects complicate the problem and your solution is valid.
The reason for ignoring gravity is assuming that the time of flight is small enough to be ignored which would follow from small height H. The session was for IAT, and questions generally not tough enough to include projectiles on inclined planes. This (small H) was not included explicitly in the question. Thanks for pointing it out!
