    Roxx Gang, and many others considering myself were the last of the breed of the 80's before Grunge came in and destroyed everything....just a little too late....we were from Tampa as well (actually I believe they were from Largo, FL), we all played the same circuit, Rock-It Club, Volley Club, etc.....good times....all gone now.....good memories though....Kevin still has a pretty cool band from what I understand....

    Ah the 80's. where we had teased dyed hair, painted nails work make-up with leather pants tucked into our cowboy boots and we were still more masculine than anything being produced by the garbage bands of today. Even at our weakest moments we would have made fun of or kicked the shit out of any Justin Bieber garbage. Sadly this also makes us old with nothing but blurry memories and and a 401K.

      This style and music is still alive dude! Check out Crashdiet, Sister, Sister Sin, Toxic Rose, Peepshow/States of Panic, BlackRain, Frenchkiss, Jailbait, Foxey, Nasty Habit, Reckless Love, Dynazty, H.E.A.T., Gunner, Loud N Nasty, Danger, Redlight Attraction, Panzer Princess, Salems Lott, X Japan and more! These bands should lead you to plenty of other newer glam and metal bands out there. These are young men in there 20's and 30's who have been trying to keep this style alive.
      The only place not accepting of this style of music is America. A majority of these bands come fro Europe, South America and Asia.

    • @hommie789
      @hommie789 Před 8 lety +5

      ***** It wasn't just the great music but the 80's was a meca for over indulgence. It was music with everything on the edge, without the internet, youtube and shit to distract you. It was just pure party that if you lived it you knew what I am talking about and if you didn't then you would know you can not recreate what it was all about. The music was cool and a part of it, but like a house of cards, without all the pieces it just not a house.

    • @Shaggzila
      @Shaggzila Před 8 lety +6

      hommie789
      I grew up in the 80's dude! My father was a roadie and worked backstage in the 80's for a local band that his friend played in. He was part of the scene and sometimes that scene carried over to home! He met Jani Lane and warrant, Kix, etc. hung out on the sunset strip watching all those bands start off small at one point and grow into what they became. My Mom hung out with Eric Singer because he was friends with her friend! My uncle is a lead guitarist who was recruited by members of the band Kingdom Come at one point
      All I'm saying is the style is alive its not dead. And the bands in Europe, South America and Asia have recreated their own take on it. its evolved just like everything does.

    • @hommie789
      @hommie789 Před 8 lety +2

      ***** and all i'm saying is the music is similar style and it is good but you can not recreate what has come and gone when everything has changed. I too went through the 80's, graduated in 1987 to be exact and partied out asses off the entire time. Half the stuff that made this era so cool is taboo now and "not politically correct" or just downright illegal and you won't see it. Like after work drop several hit of acid and trip all night, then go to work the next morning still tweaking, try that shit now a days and there are more people ratting you out than can comprehend it. It was just excessive parting, excessive women and just excessive all along with great music and you can not recreate that with just music alone.

      You’re grasping at straws there. This is a wicked album, but Dave didn’t need to rip of lead parts. It’s a basic lead harmony, so I’d assume it’s a coincidence.

    The amount of criticism glam metal gets for being what many people now call "hair metal" is undeserved. All forms of heavy metal starting with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath had bands with very long hair - much longer hair than the average guy had then or has now. The metal bands from other genres complain it;s not the length of hair but the volume of hair or "big hair" as they somewhat inaccurately refer to it. Well, who has the right to decide for everyone that bands with long hair are fine but bands with hair that has a lot of volume to it (usually created with blow dryers and hair products)? Bands with long hair and bands with very full hair that is also long are all creating an image that is sets them apart from the average man by having a lot more hair than most guys do. Whether that is achieved by growing one's hair longer or longer and fuller does not matter! The bottom line is they are all "hair bands" in that they specifically created their images by having a lot more hair than is the norm for men.
    As for makeup, having a double standard that states that it is allowable to use makeup but only if it is done in the way KISS or King Diamond used it but not in the way Roxx Gang or Motley Crue is without any logical foundation. Again, whose right is it to declare in what ways it is acceptable for men to wear makeup in rock bands and in what ways makeup use is unacceptable? No one has the right to make that judgement! They are all using makeup for the same purpose - to create an image that makes them appear different from the average man - to make them look like rock stars.

    • @DragonboltBlastter
      @DragonboltBlastter Před 8 lety +2

      +Kendall2001 The only reason why people hate Hair / Glam MEtal is because it's only singing about those lovey-dovey subjectd and nothing serious, it has actually nothing to do with the hair. But people who hate Hair / Glam Metal are just bittered pricks!

    • @Kendall2001
      @Kendall2001 Před 8 lety +2

      DragonboltBlastter I agree. Most popular music has lyrics predominantly about love yet only glam metal gets that kind of criticism for it. Glam metal is not my favorite style of metal but it has its place and I do like a fair number of glam metal bands from Roxx Gang to Steelheart.

    • @daniel2B
      @daniel2B Před 8 lety +2

      +Kendall2001 There are many people that hate everything that is associated with female in heavy metal, that think heavy metal shoud be all macho... that's misoginy from these guys... even that most bands had male musicians, still they had a visual that our society reads as female... and these people that hate glam because of image can't take that...

    • @daniel2B
      @daniel2B Před 8 lety +2

      +DragonboltBlastter Better that than having Mustaine singing about lots of political blah blah blah...
      Plus, glam metal has a lot of political stuff content in the lyrics if you pay attention... for an exemple, nothing but a good time from Poison show a lot of working class frustation about only having to work, "slavin every day", and claiming the right to have fun. WASP I Wanna be somebody is the same thing... there's a lot of political content on heavy metal...
      And even songs about party and getting wasted are not at all apolitical... remember how the 80's was a time of social repression... remember PMRC? And these dudes wanted to liberate themselves. They wanted power, to feel empowered, and the music gave them that. Alright, there's lot of quetionable content in some music, specially how women are treated as "scenary" and are there only to give men pleasure... but lot of genres have that, and... these guys were mostly from working class families, most of them quit high school to play guitar. It's not fair to expect lessons in political sciences with academical precision from them.

    • @Kendall2001
      @Kendall2001 Před 8 lety +1

      Daniel Sideris If you're right, that would make those particular types of metal bands (the ones that hate having females in their bands or females in their audience) very easy to categorize: They'd be gay metal. Dave Mustaine is always overcompensating for the scarcity of women in Megadeth's audience by calling glam meta; "Gay LA Metal."
      Isn't it interesting that those bands he's calling "Gay LA Metal" have enough confidence in themselves that they don't feel the need to acknowledge Mustaine's insults or reciprocate by insulting Megadeth for having almost no women at their shows while the glam bands have a pretty even 50/50 ratio of men to women at their shows. The fact of the matter is that in the entire genre of heavy metal, the glam metal bands are the bands that have the most success with attracting women, attracting lots of women, and good looking women at that! Just look at the wives, girlfriends and former wives and girlfriends of the guys in Motley Crue! The way they attract women is legendary.
      On the other hand, if one dislikes women, wishes to get away from women and just be around men, a Slayer or Megadeth concert would be one of the best places to go!
