Holy moly, your the only person out of who knows how many on CZcams that have actually answered all of my question that I have on this subject.
I agree with others that this is the best water kefir tutorial that I've came up on. đđ
If your using a whole pineapple you can use the pineapple peel to make a different fermented drink: Tepache. Cover the peel with water, add sugar, and leave to ferment for a few days or up to a week. The water will ferment with the naturally occurring bacteria in the pineapple peel. Delicious!
Thanks for the tip đ
I just heard of this last week!đ
YOUâRE
You probably wonât see this, because this is an older video, but I made delicious blueberry kefir water using blueberry preserves! Just add a big spoonful to the second ferment.
Wonderful! I will have to try that đ
@@CelebratingAppalachia Here's how to make a soft cheese-type spread. Flavor it how you like ! czcams.com/video/0zO7coGzS0A/video.html
@@gloriahayes2488 Thank you!
Yum!! I am just starting to make kefir water, I don't drink sodas and the carbonated waters are suddenly $$$. I will give this a try. I bet it will also be delish in milk Kefir as well. So happy I read this, I never thought of that! â€â€đđ
I do it and love it and get tired of the process and store in frige. My grains live for months without even feeding them fresh sugar water. I bought the same grains you have. They are still living 4,years later.
This is the best water kefir tutorial Iâve found yet. Also, thanks for giving the source for the grains. Iâve made milk kefir, kombucha, sauerkraut, lactic fermented pickles, yogurt, cheese, ginger bug, and sourdough for years. Iâm really looking forward to making the water kefir now. Thanks!
wow sir/ma'am your passion in fermentation is in a whole another level.
What in the world is ginger bug?
Hello Tipper , I came across your channel about a month ago and have been watching several of your videos. I normally do this before I commit to subscribing to a channel. With that being said I love your channel and your family so much I have jumped on board and have become a subscriber as of today . Thank you for the wonderful content that you and your family put together for us viewers â€â€
Welcome and thank you! So glad you are enjoying our videos đ
They are the best on CZcams.
@@lorettataylor9902 You are so kind!! đ
Start out by introducing water kefir slowly. Only 1/2 cup per day and increase gradually. You will probably feel the effects of it quickly if you don't eat or drink fermented foods on a regular basis.
Which effects have you noticed?
I started making Kefir water about the same time as you. Itâs not only delicious but so fun to try different flavors. So far the best Iâve made is with some organic dark cherry juice. Iâve noticed it takes a lot longer to ferment since itâs cooler in my house now.
This is great! I had to refresh my memory on what the benefits of kiefer water was! The ginger and lemon sounds delicious
Kefir was unknown to me prior to your video. I reckon I am subject to learn all manner of things on this channel. Great content!
Insightful analysis Ms. Tipper! Iâm interested in fermentation myself but Iâm having a hard time getting my family thrilled with it. This might work because we do lots of spearmint and other herbal teas. Iâm a kitchen science geek and my kitchen is my laboratory. From growing gourmet mushrooms to all kinds of food preservation-I have to learn how to do it, show the family and then, maybe, they get enthused. They enjoyed eating the mushrooms but I could never get them involved in cultivation.
I just purchase the kefir grains from same company in Florida. As soon as they get here I'll start making kefir water. Thank you for the informative video. Blessings from Texas. đđ»đđđ»
I've been waiting for this video!! We have tried milk kefir and didn't care for it, same with kombucha. I'm excited to try this. I had no idea there was such a thing as kefir water until you mentioned it. Thank you for sharing!!! :)
Hope you like it!
Milk kefir is good in baking especially cornbread instead of buttermilk.
My grandmother is from Floyd County Kentucky and when I was a small boy she made what she called a Tomato Sopper. Diced onions, ripe tomatoes and I think bacon drippings and vinegar. I am 63, so it's been many years since I have had one. I can't find ANYONE who knows what I'm talking about. Always served with cold, homemade biscuits.
That sounds wonderful đ
Sounds almost like a salsa, doesn't it? Never heard of it, but it sounds good!
If you try blueberry again try crushing the đ« in a bowl so you can save the juice, it might give you a better flavor. Just a thought on my part. I certainly do like the idea of a flavor water that is not store bought.
Thank you and Corie
This is a great video, Tip! I've been making it also and I learned from your video today a couple of things to change in my process. The probiotics are certainly good for the body, and I think with a little more time drinking this we will all feel some improvement in our colon! Thank you!
I just started with kefir water. After watching and reading about this experience I have been giving a little (few) to my dog and he has really enjoyed them. You might try with your animals. Thanks for your podcast. I love hearing from your family.đ”đ»Sally
I bought the Florida Sun Keifer too,I make it and we love it ,I let mine set for 3 days and let the pressure off once a day on that 3rd day I bottle mine up put different things in mine too. I love lemon đ and lime, and apple đ I love pineapple đ and I Bergamot juice you can buy a bottle of that off Amazon for $15 dollars.Mine are so full bubbles when I pour off I just add what ever flavor and bottle and refrigerate...But I let my Keifer grains grow and not pull out ,well I pulled out enough to give back to my daughter in-law to get her jars a gal each going again. She killed hers off somehow. But I pretty much let mine stay in the jar it seems to me it works fermenting the water faster and I don't have to leave it out for another 2 or 3 days after I flavor it with my fruit..We love our Keifer water in Virginia.. I saw you first video on it and I had to try it.
Thank you so much..
Wonderful! Thank you Ruth đ
Tipper, excellent, informative video! I've been making milk/cream kefir for years. The grains are different of course, but the process is similar. My typical breakfast is a glass of kefir with a handful of blueberries and banana slices. It's just delicious!
Just as you mentioned, I've heard that kefir grains don't like touching metal. I personally think it's just an old wives' tale, but others talk about a bad "molecular reaction" between metal and kefir grains. I've never had an issue, but the grains come in contact with metal only when I'm draining them off and that's just for a few seconds.
EXCELLENT! The more u ferment the better you are! â€ïžđđŻ
Facts. This is scientifically proven.
This is wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing this Tipper! I can't wait to try it.
Thanks for sharing this demonstration Tipper I want to make some Kefir water for sure. The grains would make awesome Christmas gifts too as well as some big old jars, some ginger, lemon balm, all the stuff needed to do fermentation would make one awesome gift I would think.
Great idea!
I agree! A kefir water kit!?
The timing is great for this. As fresh veggies become scarce or quality goes down, it's important to try to maintain digestive health in the winter. This is a great thing to add to one's diet, especially this time of year when sunlight is minimized and diets change.
Hey Tipper, I saw a show on PBS many years ago, and they actually used grapes with the natural yeast that's in the air, to make raised bread dough, without adding any additional yeast just grapes flour and a little bit of salt not too much salt actually inhibits yeast, and the bread actually Rose.
Fascinating đ
Going to start trying this. Thanks for sharing your journey with us!!
Thank you for sharing this! Iâm considering starting some myself. This was very informative!
Definitely gonna try this. I also have never heard of keifer water. I have fermented saurkraut before. I eat a tablespoon of it a few times a week , especially when I'm craving something kind of sour.
Sounds Great, I'll have to give this one a try! Thanks for the informative video!!
Sounds so good! Thank you for sharing
Great video! I'm excited to try making this. I love the suggestion below for ginger peach! Yum!
And all my years I never heard of such a thing thank you tipper!
Hi tipper I enjoyed that so much. You are very creative and make healthy choices for yourself and your family. 10*s out of 10*s Thank you so much for sharing your hard work.
As far as your blueberry situation, I know when I made kombucha, it made a difference flavor-wise how much I cut up the fruit. Which I especially noticed with blueberry. It's definitely an adventure to try and get it all right!
This is so interesting to me for I have never heard of it before. I am going to think about it and maybe do some research. Thanks Tipper for doing new stuff.
Thank you so very much for doing this. I deeply appreciate this
Thank you so much, you explained that perfectly for me, I've watched so many videos on how to do this, I was seriously going to give up on it, thank you very much , I really do appreciate the time you took to explain this to me , now I can start lol !!!!!
When talked about what worked more bubbly, it seems "acidity" or "alkaline" seems to be the dividing factor. I absolutely love this! I want to work with the ginger lemon and vanilla bean, Im sure the pineapple will be a hit as well. This is my first introduction to this. And the depth to how your synthesizing and break down of your experience with the process is very appreciated. Going to give a go, thank you. I will share this for those that sample.
Thank you!! Definitely have to try this!
Miss Tipper, I enjoy your channel because I love your positive representation of the Carolinas and Southern Appalachia. I was born and raised in Cabarrus/Stanly counties in NC. I currently live in AZ (as of 2015) and my in-laws like when I make banana puddin, deviled eggs, etc. Gonna try and add this to my repertoire.
I appreciate that đ
Appreciate you sharing your experience. Makes it easier to do it yourself. Excellent information. Going to have to try it. Going to involve my best friend, like you and Corie. Make it more interesting and have other support.
Thanks Tipper!
We have been making water Kiefer also but still perfected. We are definitely going to try the grape thank you for sharing Tipper. Hope you have a great day.
I have been thinking about starting kefir. So glad I found your channel and this video. Thank you for sharing. đ
Fascinating conversation. So much to learn from our elders.
Thank you Tipper for doing this video after your and Coreyâs kefir video. That was a great video! But nice to have a second reiteration.
Tipper I love your kitchen theirs a place for everything . I would love to try that kefir with goose berry's your kefir looks delicious .thank you Tipper ..hi Corey I know your behind the camera đ thank yall .....
Thanks, Tipper for being so thorough with the explanation on how to make kefir water. I have often wondered about it. But it always seemed so difficult.
Thank you for this video. My grains are on order so this was very helpful.
Tipper you showed me something new tonight! Thanks a bunch!
Thank you Buz đ
What a great, helpful tutorial! Thank you, Tipper!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
A really informative video. I have read so many articles about the benefits of Kefir. I drink a glass of the milk based Kefir every day and I am ready to try something new. Naturally fermented foods are good medicine. Many studies reflect this truth. You do feel better, because you really are better!
Tipper thank you so much for making this video. I have watched it a couple of times and just ordered my grains using your link. I had to wait until we ended our camping season so I would be home enough to experiment. I am so excited to try keifer water. You are such an inspiration and we enjoy all of your videos.
You are so kind-thank you! I hope you like it as much as we do đ
Thanks for making this video. This really sounds good. I think I will give it a try.
Great video. Iâve been doing milk kefir for a month or so and love it. Just heard about kefir water and love how you explained everything and actually showed the entire process. I just subscribed to your channel.
We ve been drinking kombucha for a long time .. Grape and ginger my two favorites.., oh and orange.. Tipoer , for more that 25 years I was never sick .. and I believe it to be from all my good gut health once I got sick and I had to be put on my first antibiotics it ruined my health and I also found out Iâm allergic to nearly all antibiotics ( any pharmaceuticals for that matter) I was raised on tinctures and fermented stuff that I believed to be totally why I stayed so healthy for so much of my life!
THE OLD WAY IS THE BETTER WAY ! another beautiful video Tipper..
Thank you Tipper, I've never had kefir water, only the kefir that tastes like buttermilk, and I love that. So, I'll give this a try.
Iâm excited about this Tipper. Thank you so much. I was thinking, if you want to try a vanilla bean again, put it in with something else that you like. I think orange might be really good. I think just anything that you know sort of, would go with vanilla. This was another really great video. They are all so good. â„ïžđđ€
I've been wondering about kefir water, especially since you've talked about it a couple of times. The way you explain things makes it easier to understand. Thanks for sharing what you've learned.
You are so welcome!
Thanks so much for this!! I tried to do this months ago but the grains were so small they washed through the strainer. Now Iâm going to buy these and make grape, lemon, ginger and berries! I love fizzy water and this is big thing for me!đ€
I just love your post!! Thank you
This is one of the most informative videos on Kefir water. Thank you!
Hi Tipper
After watching the first video about kefir water I tracked down some starter grains from PoseyMom and started playing with it. So far the blue berry is our favorite. A couple of things I've discovered so far - keeping the temperature of if in the mid-70s makes a big difference in the fermentation; I use one of the seed starter heat mats plugged into a 24hour timer, running 3 hours on then 3 hours off; this works well for me. Also, I let the process go for about 3 days before moving on to the flavoring phase. I also let it flavor for 3 days before straining off the fruit and drinking the flavored water. And a coffee filter and rubber band makes a great brew cap.
Take care.
So glad you are enjoying it too đ
Sounds Delicious! Thanks for Sharing ! The Pinneapple sounds Really Good! And the one with Ginger & Lemon Balm! Have A Blessed Day!
I've got my wife hooked on Kefir low fat milk. she uses it in her cereal and smoothies. Our favorite is strawberry, and I use it in my cereal as well. Now I want to try your Kefir water. I bet I get those same expressions you get when tasting the different flavors. Thanks for sharing your methods of trial and error so your subscribers don't have to. Love the Pressley's
My mother made this... we called it yeast water, but it did have those pearly beads. Mind you, that was in the 1960ies!! She sliced lemons into the water and we liked it. Actually, she and I were the only ones who drank it, my 4 brothers and dad did not like it and never touched it. So, my mother ended up calling it "Ladie's water". I grew up in Switzerland, and we used homeopathic medicine primarily. Thank you and God bless you and your lovely family!
Fascinating-thank you!
I love me some strawberry/rhubarb kefir water, and I agree - I love lemon ginger as well.
can't wait to try, thanks for sharing
Thanks Tipper you make it look easy I'm going to try making some.
Thanks Tipper! Iâm ordering my kefir water granules tonight. I definitely want to try this. đđđ
Hope you enjoy đ
Thank you for doing this video I have been wondering about the kiffer water!
I live in Florida but watch your videos because it keeps me in touch with my roots. I am from Sparta, NC and most of my family lives there and in Galax, Va both are in the Appalachian Mountains. I have made your candy, watched your different vlogs from the holidays, your interview with your Granny, just reminds me so much of home. I am going to try the water.
Thank you so much!
I love those big glass jars you have! I need to find something like that. Cheers, and God bless!
Iâve been waiting for this video on water kefir!
This is very interesting. I think I will do some research. I love most all fruit.
Thank you so much for sharing this video with us!
Iâve heard you talk of kefir water but didnât know how you made yours. This was a very informative video.
So helpful, thank you Tipper.
I was waiting for this!
đ Yay!
I'm looking forward to trying this. I just made my order for the Kefir grains.
I am going to try this. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks tipper! Enjoyed this! It definitely is delicious and good for you ! I'm like you , I love coconut, but not with this i agree , The fruits are much better ...appreciate y'all always...God bless....đâ€
I really enjoyed this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very interesting and helpful for someone just getting started. Thank you.
I'm so glad I found you and this video! I'm trying to make kefir water for the first time with some dehydrated grains I got from azure standard. I'm quite experienced with fermentation, but have not had much success yet with the water. Thank you for all your tips and advice. I'm going to keep trying!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I also first bought the little unproductive grains but I saw the Florida Sun kefir grains on another video of yours and ordered some. It was revolutionary! I put herbs and/or fruit and honey in the second ferment. Delicious! Iâm going to try not using the molasses too.
Wonderful!
We had a busy week, so we're a day late watching this one, Tipper, but we really enjoyed it. Cheryl has been talking about giving kefir water a try, and I bet your video will provide her with the impetus to give it a go. She purchased a few foil envelopes of kefir water crystals a few weeks ago. If these don't work, we'll look for the brand you use. I'm thinking that even if they are small crystals, a little extra sugar from fruit might help them multiply. Thanks for providing the inspiration to give this a try!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you Roland! Hope you and Cheryl have a great weekend!
Rewatching this morning as I'm starting my second ferment. I'm making lemon ginger, and blueberry lemon. If I like them, I may attempt a lemon/lime like healthy sprite. I'm so excited as I've quit soda earlier this year. :)
I hope you like it!!
@@CelebratingAppalachia I have been enjoying experimenting with the different flavors. So far I think they are very beneficial as our family has digestive issues. I'm hoping I can get everyone to like them as much as I do.
Blue Girl, I am just starting with water kefir, as a matter of fact I am waiting for them to arrive from Florida Sun. I haven't had a soda in I don't know how long, but I loved the taste of Sprite back then, so I am curious to try your lemon/lime idea. Did you try it yet? :)
This was a very informative video, Tipper! As a person with a sensitive stomach I was very much interested in this segment. I drink a ginger and peach tea, which is very nice. Maybe you could try some peach and ginger water next Summer, of course đ Thanks again!
Cynthia-I forgot to say we did try peach when I was putting up peaches and it was good too đ
@@CelebratingAppalachia Mercy, I'll bet it was!đ
Thank you for sharing, Tipper. I'm gonna give this a try.
Hope you enjoy đ
The best video of kefir making Iâve seen yet ! Second to none. And Iâve seen quite a few⊠Also love that you go through the process twice. And strangely youâre the first to tell about the kefir cage. Wow. This will make my life easier. Again thanksđđŒ
Thanks so much đ
Thanks so much for this video. I will watch it again then try it.
Thank you soooo much. I'm doing this.
Been looking for this recipe the way ur always drinking it looked so good Thank you maam đđ»đđ»đșđžâđ»
So interesting! I think I will try with cherries and next summer with figs. Thank you sharing your knowledge and experiences with us.
Thanks for this video Tipper! I have been looking for a healthy drink for a long time. Everything either has alot of sugar or unhealthy sugar substitutes. So now I have another hobby to get through the winter. Another answer to prayer!!
I hope you enjoy it đ
This I think needs another refrigerator to be had for it with fruits and vegs also !!! I think for myself I would start with the coming of the Spring time for summer !!! That would be a treat then for myself !!!
A lot of people that have a CZcams channel sell their own merchandise. I enjoy your cooking ones and when you taste something you say "Umm..So Good". You should sell aprons or towels with that printed on them. Tks for all the videos...I enjoy them a bunch..
Good idea, Roger. I'd love to see one that says "Umm So Good" with a background of bluish gray mountains. Can you imagine?
That's a great idea! Thank yo Roger đ
I hope you are able to get the blueberry lime figured out because that sounds so so good!
Very helpful information. Thank you.
Im glad I found this post. I recently decided to star water keifer and wondered about how you were making it.
I stumbled on to this video- I just received my grains today. The first video said I needed a couple cups of starter which I neednât get. So o kept looking for what to do and then this video. Thank you. I appreciate your candor, your story, and just the way you shared it.
I hope you enjoy it as much as we do đ
An excellent presentation, Thankyou. I have been making kefir for quite a while, but I haven't been as adventurous as you with the fruit, but now I'm going to do it. Here in UK the weather has been so cold that it slowed the grains down so I leave it for 36 to 48 hrs. during winter. Thanks again x đ
