question... got a dragonfly acan from you, the first two weeks it looked amazing, and seemed to be acclimating very well, then 3 days ago, it started to recede... any idea what may have happened? my tank is stable, I dont test everything, every day, but I could find nothing out of the ordinary that could have caused this. I absolutely do think it was something in my tank and NOT your coral, but I am flummoxed as to what could have happened. do you have any ideas? I would like to order another one, but would that be irresponsible given I have not identified what happened? all my other corals seemed fine, but about a week before the acan started to die, my clove polyps closed up, and when they came back out, they seemed to have shrunk a bit.... also, a zoa colony closed up tight, and feel off the rock it had been on for 6 months....so something happened in my tank, about a week before the acan started receding...
That's very strange, I would guess if your water conditions are good that it could be do to another coral stinging it or a fish nipping at it. If you have any other corals within a few inches of it its possible a sweeper tentacle stung it. Also angelfish and other reef safe with caution fish sometimes take a liking to acans. I would recommend moving it into a low-light area feeding it and it should begin to recover.
