What shark species is this? How come she was sure the shark would not bite? I have read many times sharks do not attack as much as the public usualy presumes but still, this is freaking swim by and taking pictures, trying to touch and shit.. How? :-)
FilipFifth It's an oceanic whitetip, part of the requiem family. They're very easy to identify on account of their rounded pectoral and dorsal fins. These sharks tend to be fairly slow swimmers out of a need to conserve energy, since the open ocean is basically a desert and much of your time would be spent steadily plying the waters in search of your next meal. That's not to say the oceanic whitetip can't rush you down in a sudden burst of speed, though - and they are known to do that, as they're notoriously aggressive and responsible for a lot of attacks at sea.
My assumption is that the diver simply didn't make herself seem like food. Sharks generally don't attack unless they're threatened or hungry; oceanic whitetips perhaps more so, since they can't afford to expend a lot of energy unless they expect to get a meal out of it. (They've been seen stalking prey over long distances, just to tire it out - a lot like dogs, actually.) What you interpreted as "trying to touch" around 2:35 is actually defensive on the diver's part. You can see how the shark starts getting really curious and moves in for a closer inspection; her reaching out was to stop that behavior.

Oceanic White Tip
By far the most disappointing album I've heard in a LONG time.
They were such an innovative band...combining elements of jazz and electronic music to write excellent songs for their first two albums.
To go from that to this album is just upsetting.
