I loved Thelexi's story, but I just hope we don't have a tone of dark moments in the future, so we don't get emotionally numb for them (however they really learned how to make them, compared to poor Teppei on Inazuma)
We won't get emotionally numb if the dark tone is played in a smart way. Ie. Not writing repetitive stories.

This is Mihoyo did tons of emotional damage storytelling for Honkai Impact 3rd for years of course they’re more than capable of doing so in Genshin. Genshin is towards that direction since 2.4 the interlude archon quest and Chasm. Surely they’ll continue doing so in future update. Teppei and the whole resistance arc was simply too rushed

It is not depressing, it is actually the opposite of depressing.
We are starting to get more depressing story quest. After all, this is a Mihoyo game.
Wriothesley's story quest makes us go "HELL YEAH, KICK HIS ASS"
Furina's story quest is not depressing at all. It's uplifting.
But yeah, i do wish we get more comedic yet serious quests like in the chasm.
Especially in war ravaged nation of Natlan

While it certainly isn't bad... Relying on one thing will eventually bite you in the ass.... I mean can you imagine a story that always pulls the "oh the enemy that was certainly evil actually has a sad back story" ahem.... Demon ____er!!!
It gets tiring and predicable eventually. And sometimes makes me think its just being used a a crutch

Tiring is the best word to describe it. I had the worst time with this event, Paimon repeating every other Freminet’s line completely ruined it for me, it was plain exhausting and sleep-inducing. The most important point is different for me, though. Having flagship events centred around NPCs is a total waste in my eyes, most people expect to see their favourite characters interacting with each other, not some random story that has nothing to do with them. If they intend to make it about NPCs, then at least make an event about the important ones we’ve interacted with previously, like Jeht, Rana or Enjou, or someone like that.

Sometimes I have a feeling that these events are getting darker.
They’re getting boring. At least the previous NPC-centred events featured some gigachad NPCs like Enjou & actual lore drops.
Even the main story itself getting darker.
I'm assuming they learning from Hi3, and considering this is a 10 years project, we're only 3 years in, and yes we just touching the surface.
This quest made me have that bittersweet smile that hit deep with the ocean flood of tears of how dark that event is

Their stories are beginning to get really repetitive with the overuse of sad emotions to make this illusion that it's a good story even though that isn't the only basis for good writing.
A lot of the stories in the game consists of bloated dialogue and generic build up to a melancholic conclusion.
I get that. There is ALWAYS a dark twist waiting.

The only thing I found depressing was that after hearing "Loneliness Syndrome" I lost all interest in the event story and actively skipped through it after that.
Her son being dead the whole time was the slowest fastball pitched down the center of the plate I've ever seen.
That’s your loss, you’re avoiding great content for that matters. Or you’re just trying to avoid your own loneliness syndrome 😂
I think it's justified since talking about schizophrenia (which is kinda what it is) might hit too close at home for some people, making up a unique mental illness is way better for that reason alone.
But yeah i think everyone called the son was dead the whole time thing, it's kinda like how in stories where large groups of characters are killed you expect this other character to die when put in peril.
This can work for and against the writer, during the archon quest it was expected that something would go wrong with the performance, but when or what would happen created some tension that would not be there.
On the other hand in this case you expected there to be a plot twist because of common tropes in both mihoyo and professional writing at large, so it made the whole thing uneventful.
TL;DR Loneliness syndrome good call, plot twist expected and bad.
@@Herald87 they could've just not gone with a mental illness altogether if it runs the risk of triggering people.
If you like it, that's cool.
I stand by it being laughable, if Genshin wants to play with dark themes then they should commit.

Hated this event, listening to Paimon & Freminet’s voice lines was insufferable. The story was unnecessary and boring, why should we even care about some random NPC’s well being in the first place? Events should feature character interactions, not some worthless noname NPC backstories.
Why are genshin events so skippable.
Second event in a row where the story is boring. Seriously. I wanna see my characters interact with each other, not some random mother with her non existent child
100% agreed, I’m getting tired of these random NPC events & backstories for basically three versions in a row. At least the next one will certainly be better, characters from Inazuma will carry it for sure.
