I have a 2019 and had it from new yes it is a fantastic bike but it can be improved. Change the tyres for Avon road riders decat it fit Tec bike parts front springs rear shocks to Hagon a booster plug and DNA air filter this might seem a lot but the transformation is worth it. With the Lomo panniers go for the ones with the moly system on the back I also have those and they are great. Happy riding. I live in North Wales and it is a lovely bike for around here.👍👍

Hi William. Thanks for this info. Riding the T120, with the rear shocks on lowest setting, it does feel quite hard. Tried it with a light pillion the other day and not much difference. Are you saying the Hagons make it a smoother ride or have you had different experiences? Lomo's, that's good advice 👍

    • @williamjones6478
      @williamjones6478 Před měsícem +1

When you order the adjustable you state your weight and that should be your lowest setting you have a further two adjustments for when you carry luggage or a pillion I left my rebound at mid point I find they operate a lot smoother and track the road surface better. The change at the front to progressive springs from TEC bike parts helps with fork dive under braking. Decat and A.+D filter help it breath better.I am no expert but I have been around bikes for fifty five years.👍

@@williamjones6478 Agree with all the above, decat (a good smooth one like Motone), filter, and certainly progressive fork springs (TEC?) help no end. Next for me are tyres to change.....

In 2008 i was knocked off my bike by a BMW car coming out of a side road and broke my ankle and a couple of ribs. She said she didn't see me, lame excuse, but I was wearing a black leather jacket with a black helmet. I now wear a white helmet with a jacket that's colourful with fluorescent highlights. I want to be seen not fashionable now. Love the bike it looks the bee's knees one you will look back at when you park it up, unlike the Tiger, and far less complicated.

Nothing worse Ian, thank a knock off. Not seeing you (or me or us) is a poor excuse but apparently, people simply do not see the bike. The brain fills in what they want to see. However, that is no good when you have been flipped over and over. Fashion (my 25 year old son) is the rage. Better to be seen that not I say 👍

Yes, congratulations on your recent purchase! I, myself just purchase the same bike 2024 T120 black & white fusion yesterday. It will be ready in about a week. I've heard so many good things about the Bonnevilles and that was a real confidence builder. I simply love the retro styling but with modern day conveniences. I'm in Canada and paid $16,190 CAD which included a centre stand, long haul windscreen and black dresser bars. I traded in a 2020 Kawasaki Versys 650 with 15000KM and got $6000.00 trade in. I'm really looking forward to riding this beautiful looking machine. Thank you for your comments and enjoy many years of happy riding! Cheers. P.S. I've had a few close calls over the years of riding but considering all, it's been fine. Although, one must always ride like you're invisible to other vehicles, defensive riding is a must.

But saying that I absolutely love my T120, it’s a fantastic bike that just does everything you want it to do. Bags of power, rides 2 up like it’s nothing. Stunning to look at. Probably a bit less road presence than an ADV bike like the Tiger 900 and a bit less in the way of daytime running lights having the single DRL rather than the spread of the Tigers across the width of the bike headlights leading to less overall 'visibility' than you had before. Let me know which machine you're ignoring next and I can help out lol. Lovely machine, enjoy 👍

Having said that, he was in the minority of all twin owners..

Like yourself I have three bikes A T120, T100, and Street Twin. I know, I know, I love them all and they have distinctly different characters. We all know the formula for optimal bike ownership number, n+1 😉😀 I keep looking at the gap in my garage and think I could fit a BSA in there, or a four hundred four, or an RD 350, great minds and all that. I am quite surprised how many people DO see me on the Triumph’s, that’s working on the assumption that no one sees me of course, very few ‘pull outs’. I am a white helmet, high viz guy, whether that helps or not I do not know, I realise it is a contentious subject. Just out of interest do you fly as well ? I have set my T120 as a mini-tourer for UK trips buying whatever I can cheap off eBay as I also have a "proper" tourer for trips abroad (and my better half says that the Triumph is not as comfy in comparison). Triumph Touring screen is stupidly expensive and too small (bought very cheap off eBay), but the mounting system is impressively solid - I'm about to get a custom screen priced up. I have a Givi rack and pannier frames (eBay again) as I don't get peace of mind with throw-overs . Scottoiler X-system. Fehling crash-bars and Bikeviz auxiliary lights (the latter great for being seen in super-impatient London traffic). King and Queen seat is very comfortable. Combined Voltmeter, Outside Temperature and USB port mounted on the bars (I didn't get on with trailing a long wire from the USB port under the seat)
I also installed a tubeless tyre conversion from Central Wheel Components as I was afraid of the consequences of a puncture miles from anywhere on the Northern Coast of Scotland.
Since mine is a 2019 model, I have a centre-stand and heated grips but no cruise control.
I'm looking forward to a week's mini-tour in Wales soon.
As you know the T120 is a brilliant bike for going slowly, enjoying the countryside and "smelling the roses". Enjoy!
I know you think the Goldstar is also brilliant but how are you going to decide which one to take out for a spin?

    • @bankruptpensioner

Hi John, thanks for the comprehensive list. There are some things for me to think about here - especially the conversion to tubeless - great idea. I have taken the scottoiler off my Tiger and intend to put on the T120 - they are great simple solutions although overpriced maybe. I shall consider your recommendations 👍

The Tiger 900 GT Pro is one of the 5 or 6 bikes I'm considering for my next and only bike as I enter retirement. The T120 is not among those, but I keep going back to take another look at it. That should tell me something. I'm a simple rider and am attracted to the simplicity of the T120, especially compared to the bikes I'm considering. Riding in the western US where it can be 100+ degrees, many miles between towns, and interstate riding can be a necessary evil at times, I would've bought one years ago if it had tubeless wheels, effective wind management, and a slightly bigger tank. Despite missing those features, I have to admit I'm more attracted to that bike than any other.

Hey Mark, go test ride a T120. That said, the Tiger is great - it's just getting to much for me to handle without the fear or dropping it whilst I man handle it around the garage etc. Other than that, the Tiger is perfect - but the simplicity of the T120 brings things back to simpler times where you kept your eyes on the road, rather than the LCD display 👍

@@bankruptpensioner I test rode a T120 in 2017. I liked it but I don't think I was ready for it then. Now a bit older and retired, the nature of my riding is changing and I have to admit a T120 is more appropriate for me than any ADV, sport tourer, or tourer. I ride to enjoy the scenery rather than for speed or hitting apexes, so I would end up riding a Tiger, GS, or Goldwing just as I would a T120. Maybe that's why I keep revisiting the T120.

I had a T120 green and gray 2022 Goldline Edition. The bike is a peach 🍑. Lovely.
I hope that what happened with you wasn’t what I felt that happened with my riding of the bike. I felt that it’s road presence wasn’t so effective as a taller bike was. I think, maybe a taller bike is more visible to car drivers . I n several occasions, it happened during the year I had been riding the T-120. But at the same time, it could be related to the phenomenon you’ve told. The rush hour. Now I own a 1200 Scrambler XE and in general everyone sees it. That’s why I think that for car drivers a taller bike can be easier to spot… it’s not a certainty, is just my guessing, but I have the impression that height of the bike matter and of course volume in general . For me personally, a taller bike allows a different vision in traffic and maybe it turns out to be true for the other road users. All and all we’ve got to be very sharp and concentrated once riding a bike as traffic becomes more and more intense everyday and people seem to be a lot stressed everywhere. The margin for calculation errors on safety and defensive riding is narrower from what it was 10 years ago, to give a number and an exemple of my thought. Simple is good but not always better. It should be but sometimes, isn’t. 👍🏻

Hi Fernando, I have been riding today in the day time - with the high beam on. This seems to work. I never had this problem with the Tiger and you are probably right, presence is the word. I am going to have to think about this more and do some tests - in the rush hour 😆

@@bankruptpensionerthat test you’re doing is an indication! When I felt less “respect” on the road by car drivers, I immediately shared the worry with the sales team at my Dealership and they had a symptomatic reaction, first silence and then they didn’t deny the “claim”😂. That was answering enough for me to start looking for a solution. I can’t change the world, but in can change my situation and I did it.👌🏻

@@stanleylawson9015 Hi Stan, this is applicable to the UK (maybe other countries but I do not know about them). A few years ago, a new consumer right law (and it is a law - not just a guide) came abouts that allows owners to service products themselves without impact to warranty. This law change was due to the fact that people were servicing objects (washing machines, computers, cars, etc etc) and loosing their rights to warranty offerings. Even thought evidence from those was documented to confirm the fix or service was performed in a competent way. So, now, you can perform your own servicing etc as long as the parts are genuine etc etc. And the service is documented (video). As such, you can save hundred by doing it yourself. Just keep all the receipts and note the mileage and dates etc. Does this help?
