The best way to get good at this chord tone soloing is:
1.) Practice playing over different chord progressions
2.) Practice getting to the point where the chord tones "light up" to you as the chords are changing
That is exactly why I teach these concepts from my website using what is known as "moving video backing tracks". There are hundreds of these moving backing track videos, which can be played at slower speeds available on Zombie Guitar. Check out the demo video here (namely the part about "moving video backing tracks"):

This is by far one of the best lessons I found on CZcams if you want to learn to improvise. If you have a basic understanding of caged and know your pentatonic scales, this is an awesome eye opener! Thanks man!

Hey, Brian. Great lesson. Thank you. By the way, if you are making a living playing music, by definition, you are indeed a professional. When you started playing your guitar to illustrate the lesson, it is really clear that you know what you are talking about. But there wasn't any showboating.that can sometimes gets students lost. Thanks for your humility. It makes for a really enjoyable lesson.

I've taken face-to-face lessons with two well-educated teachers, but I have been unable to intelligently convey to them the things that I struggle with. I've purchased books with enticing titles, and listened to countless CZcams instructors. NOBODY can hold a candle to you. You KNOW how people think, and convey guidance in a no-nonsense manner that is easy to grasp. MASTER teacher! THANKS!

Thanks, Brian. Just starting to get my head round this and it's all gradually coming together. Learn the chord sequence. Loop it or record it. Play over it with just chord tones in lots of varied patterns. Add embellishments - slides, bends, harmonics, etc. Then work on phrasing and adding spaces. Yeah, it's slowly coming together. For the first time in my life I can _visualise_ solos. Thanks, man!

Well done! I've played for a bloody long time, but I also relied on scales for soloing over songs, and after avoiding theory forever, I finally started digging in, and lo and behold, realized how to play over the changes, targeting the chord tones. Day-by-day, there's improvement, but still not at the point of instantly finding every chord tone during the changes without thinking about it ahead of time. Will be checking out all of your lessons. Many thanks for the time!

While this book thoroughly maps the fretboard for every key it lacks guidance on soloing over an actual chord progression. Your example of soloing over the chord changes with the corresponding chord voicings has filled that void in my understanding. Thanks!
