Great round 3 interview the big VR. I liked your question Hamish on Ange and in his tenure and if his message weakens. Vince’s answer was really good.. it’s only been seen at national level and for me it was all to do with the media messaging around his team. He switched to a back 3 and we didn’t adapt as quickly as he would have liked. From there the landslide of media stupidity couldn’t be stopped.. my biggest concern for him at Celtic is if the media get on his back and starts to gets fans agreeing with them. Think he would plan his exit after that started. But 4 years and out of a champs league group would be his new minimum expectation I think. Keep smashing it Hamish

In some ways it’s harder to coach a national team because you can’t buy players and you don’t see them all the time. They come from all parts of the world and you have to get them together in a short space of time. He did a great job with Australia but didn’t have the backing he needed to take them further.

This is one of the things that sets Ange apart from too many in the Oz football community. He has no chip on his shoulder. He loves his sport. He promotes his sport. His teams play like any AFL or NRL fan would love their team to play. He has friends among the broader sporting fraternity. He believes football in Oz will only grow if fans back their sport by putting bums on seats and forget the forelock tugging to Europe. It’s not disrespecting Europe it’s about respecting our game. Ange respects our game and people like him make it grow. Fans who back our game make it grow. Don’t leave it to the powers that be. Bums on seats, stop bagging our own, or whinging in envy about the success of other codes. Make it fan built.

Aussie Rules or Fumble Ball as it is more accurately described, is the cancer of Australian sport.
It’s criminal how thousands of our elite athletes are consumed by AFL. It sucks the life out of Australia’s international sport competitiveness. It is a cancerous tumour. Chemotherapy is what it needs dosing with.

I think what got the Socceroos through was the replacement of 3 of the back 4, which many fans had been pleading for since about half way through the home and away matches. Playing Barcelona in a friendly possibly played a part too as Xavi praised Kye Rowles performance. I doubt that Bailey Wright would have risked playing if Sunderland's season hadn't completed. Nat Atkinson was another inclusion, who I doubt would have got a game but for joining Hearts. Another Aussie, u-23 Lewis Miller has joined Hibs. 6'2" RB, I'd put him up front as he is a GG in the making. It will be very interesting to see if Ange will play the same tactics in the CL and how they stand up .

The challenge for long term Ange fans has always been the European Cup. An Ange team playing the best and not making a backward step, win, lose or draw. It’s never been about honourable losses, worthy draws or lucky wins. An attitude. 3 nil losses having an absolute crack and not back to the walls underdog flukey wins. If you can fluke one win then you can grasp more wins by going for the throat. Front foot. Remembering, of course, it’s a program with Ange, not we’ll do our best each game. It’s do your best every minute you’re on the training pitch and in every minute you’re on the pitch in a game. And never forgetting Ange aims for champion teams not teams of champions. Bring it on, win, lose or draw.

Ange took budget players and got Socceroos to scare the daylights out of giant soccer nations. Even after a nigtmare start, bar JJ and perhaps Daizen/Kyogo as national starters, he got Celtic to a team of many internationals. Imagine what is possible at Celtic once he completes the transformation. The man has an eye for players as well as coaches. His involvement on his AFL team's coach selection panel changed their fortunes and ditto Kevin Muscat at Yohohama. Might take another year or two for CL triumph. Ange will not settle for 2nds. Enjoy the ride until he goes.

I respectfully disagree with Vince in a couple of areas as a Brisbane fan. Firstly, Brisbane was very successful for 3-4 years after Ange left. And this was entirely due to the players he brought in, and the tactics he implemented. I think the channel should talk to knowledgeable Brisbane FC people, specifically about Anges second year. I watched every game under Ange, and in the second year, you can expect the football game to look like a math equation. When his players get to the final third, he will make sure they choose a certain option every time. As in, they will play the ball along the ground to the front post. If this option isn't available, they will cut it back to the edge of the box. If this isn't available, they will put in a cross on the penalty spot. And this might sound funny, but they will do this until the ball is in the back of the net. Celtic will become way better in the 2nd year at finishing chances, and way better at playing that final ball. Also, under Ange, Brisbane played a lot better in the Asian champions league. In our first year, we played very good football but basically lost every game. The second year, we did very well football and results whise. Ange will expect celtic to match it with the big teams in Europe, and if they don't, he won't care, he will coach the team to beat them the following year. He will play aggressive football until his team can beat the best. Which means you will have some heartbreaking losses, but some incredible victories.
