Ankara originated in Indonesia from where the Dutch learned their technique. After the Dutch failed to sell their less skillfully made version back to the Indonesians whom they had colonized. They made some major adjustments to the fabrics patterns, and colors and sold it to various African nations. However it was the Africans women who gave birth to what is now truly an African fabric. I am of course very interested in all African fabric. In learning the various techniques involved in making them, the patterns used etc. Have a very lovely day
