Shot in an undisclosed forest in Northern Ontario in February 2007 & released on April 1st of that year, this was Woods of Ypres' first official music video. It was deleted from CZcams in recent years, but in memory of the late David Gold, I've decided to repost it on here. NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT IS INTENDED!! I know it will never happen but I wish that the entire woods of ypres discography would be remastered. they are one of the most underrated bands of all tine and need to be more popular than they are. RIP David Gold

The Truth, why some of David's earlier work disappeared...When David went to teach in Korea for a year, his band mate purposely deleted David's work. I remember like it was yesterday how David could not believe someone would destroy his history. This person threatened to do this...and did. When David returned, and rediscovered himself, with out this band mate...the other person regret his actions and wanted to rejoin the band. David went on to bigger things, without him.

I can't believe some people.
I absolutely love Woods! I only discovered them a few years after David's death, and when I learned he died it honestly really saddened me. I obviously never knew him, but through his music it often felt like I did, and it felt like losing a friend I never had, if that makes any sense. His music is so open and honest, it really does feel like he's baring his soul right in front of me. It's resonated deeply with me, in a way I've never experienced before or since.
Your son was one hell of a special, talented man, Esther. My life is better for being able experience his work.

david did not kill himself. heartbroken but not suicidal. i've heard what possibly happened but his death is nowhere near as important as his life. watch some of his summer tour vids. he was a funny and approachable fella. read or listen to some of the interviews he did around the time leading up to this death. he explains the themes they were exploring in the new album. such a great lyricist, he spoke his thoughts and feelings but shaped them to suit the atmosphere of a woods album perfectly.
Playing this during the long Wisconsin winters and it is perfectly fitting

plenty of them do. Immortal is an example. there are plenty of bands that stopped wearing it because it became meaningless and a trend. For example Emperor. Dead wore it because he wanted to look and feel dead. Carpathian Forest, Immortal, Dimmu, wear it because its part of the trend and its flashy. P.S. this isn't me hating on the music I like immortal and Carpathian Forest.

Why did this clip disappear from CZcams?
at that time, from time to time, CZcams would ask for a copyright confirmation on music clips, probably no one replied to their email, and then after a while the site deletes the video, it's as if no one owns it, it was a way for the growing CZcams to be able to keep the servers minimally stable, you usually received 3 emails asking for confirmation and if you didn't did it, you would receive another email saying that your video would be deleted, the process sometimes took up to years but it happened, after the 3 email there was nothing else that could be done.

It's also stated in lyrics of the last three songs off of the same album that he was ending his life for a girl. The red haired chick wasn't in Woods IV or V... I wonder if they had a bond and her leaving made him depressed and almost suicidal.

You're wrong buddy, it was an accident, you can fact check this anywhere, don't go around spreading lies and you can also check his last tweets the day before he died and you'll see that he had no plans on dying but making a positive album.

I spoke to David hours before the accident,” Mom, I will be home by 9:30...” we had family Christmas plans, going sky diving for New Years, then he was going on a European tour...and agreed to a new teaching job in Dubai...” ( he had lots of plans )

I can admire this bands ambition and songwriting prowess but this really isn't black metal at all. I prefer my black metal fast and heavy and keyboard free. Cool song but not my style. And to the people saying this sounds like Immortal , are you fucking serious? Go listen to Sons of Northern Darkness for 30 seconds and tell me there's any similarities at all
