I just want to thank you so much for this. I received my device a few days ago and wanted to remove a few ROM. Doing that somehow broke the whole thing. It wouldn't boot up. It's been so stressful trying to get it to work again. I finally did by following this tutorial. I really appreciate it. God bless you.
You have great presentation and are clear. I was intimidated going into it but everything went smooth following your steps.
I was told to follow this guide to finally get my Anbernic 35xx sorted, so let's go.
Thanks for checking out the vid! Hope it helps get you all set :)
MinUi is awesome!! Straight to gaming. More systems got added lately and I love it.
Agreed. I've really enjoyed using it since installing 👍
FYI, there's FinUI, which is based on MinUI with the ability to have a favorites list, which I think is a really nice feature.
Nice, I hadn't heard of that yet. I will check it out. Thank you!
Wanna use finui but no artbox
Great video! This was very helpful, thanks for sharing 😃👍
Thanks for the step by step instructions!
You bet, glad you found it helpful!
Thanks, just bought one and needed some help 😎👌🏼🍻
Sweet, glad it was helpful 👍
Wow this looks great. Garlic Os has been giving me trouble so I might just switch to Minui now
I really enjoy it personally, it's definitely worth giving it a test drive.
Thank you so much for your hard work😊
My pleasure! And thank you for taking the time to leave a comment :)
Finally! I literally search on how to install MinUI rightnow, and then Boom! this one appear 🤩
Lol... Good timing! Hope you find the vid helpful :)
@@otggaming3180 can you also make a tutorial on how to create a second sd card for the ROMs as well?
@@johnpaulbernal I will put it on my list of upcoming vids. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@otggaming3180 Thank you so much! 🙏
@@johnpaulbernal 👍
I like Min UI, just focus on game.. menu is very simple, like Analogue Pocket
Exactly, that's what I like about it as well. Thanks for the comment :)
I'm in love with the Anbernic. However, I bought it to have a 2 in 1 experience (because of the mini HDMI output) and MinUI and the Stock OS are much better for that purpose, specially because of the possibility to configure the ratio of the output video (unable/more dificilt on Koriki or GarlicOS). in the end, between GarlicOS and MinUI I would stick to MinUI hands down if it wasn't a lack of Favorites/ Searcher and some consoles like Neo Geo. Until they launch that on MinUI I would have to stay on Garlic for now.
Excellent tutorial! Hopefully they add those features any soon
Edit: I tried FinUI that added Favorites but sacrificed the controller and HDMI Output use
Which version of minui has hdmi? The latest one just displays a boot logo for me
@@harveysmith6636 I no longer have the anbernic, but As far as I remember, first time I instaled MinUI, it had the hdmi output. Then I reinstalled it and happened the logo thing. So I'm afraid I can't say which version had the feature :(
@MatusaiHimura Yeah I figured out which version eventually, but sadly it only works for the original batch of 35xxs, so I just went with garlic in the end.
Nice guide 😁👍
Just got mine and install MinUi, it's working well, so simple and clean.
Btw, does it support multi disk ps1 games? (like FF7-9, RE2, Legend of Dragoon, ... etc.), and how can we change disk?
Yes !
really loving minui a lot more than garlic or stock OS ... I
I find I use it more than Garlic. I like it a lot!
Thank you
No problem. Thanks for leaving a comment!
is possible to use the sd 1 just for the system and a second for games, bios and saves?
nice! Do you think you'll try Koriki?
Eventually, I have it on my list. I've heard alot of good things.
Hey guys! I need help, i followed the instructions from the video but somehow after the boot "installing MinUi" it goes back to the stock os. I am using a brandnew 64gb sandisk memcard, not sure what I did do wrong. Please help!!! Thanks
Nice, I actually prefer the stock OS over the Garlic OS. 😊👊
Great video. Can you adjust screen brightness as mine seems quite dim on Minui compared to stock?
Thanks, I appreciate that! Should be able to adjust the brightness in MinUI by holding the function key and pressing up or down on the volume buttons.
@@otggaming3180 Brilliant thanks. Subscribed.👍👍
@@lazyeejay You bet! Thanks so much for the sub :)
At 6:55 where you copy from the extras folder to the ROMSs partition, what's happening to the folders with the same name? Are they combined? Does one overwrite the other? Seems like there should have been some "Overwrite? Yes/No" prompts at that step but I didn't see one. Thanks for walking me through this!
The contents of the extras zip is basically additional emulators that are not included with the base MinUI package. So it is just combining the contents of the folders. Nothing should be overwritten.
@@otggaming3180 Awesome, thank you!
@@SeanMcKenzie You bet 👍
can someone give me a suggestion on what to do, I did EVERYTHING up to 9:19 and button inputs are not recognized.
Hi im wondering but i currently have 2 sd cards one for the os and one for roms. Is it possible to install miniui on another sd card and just switch between garlic and mini while still having my roms and saves?
Unfortunately, what you describe is not possible. Garlic and MinUI use a different folder structure and are not compatible with each other.
what about filters in minui?
Is there any way I can increase the speed of fastforward? Because it natively limits you to 8x, but it is very slow, especially for pokemon games. are there any changes i can make to the files for this?
If you set the Max FF speed to "none" it removes the limit on the fast forward speed and will go as fast as the hardware will allow. Also, if you set the CPU speed to "performance," you might get a little extra oomph as well.
@@otggaming3180 ok, i will test it
Is it possible to emulate Amiga games on some RG35xx firmware?
It can be done on GarlicOS. There's more info about it on the OnionOS page, which will work the same on GarlicOS: github.com/OnionUI/Onion/wiki/Emulators#commodore---amiga--amiga-cd32--
hey I have no misc partition on my sd card, I imaged my sd card and all. Pls Help
where did you get the game files to copy-paste after the installation process?
The roms subreddit is a great place to start: www.reddit.com/r/Roms/
@@otggaming3180 thanks for the info, now I'm just looking for how to install via mac
how to i add roms or games?
The performance for PS1 games are the same with MinUI or Garlic?
In my experience they are pretty much the same. I haven't seen any noticeable difference in the games I've tested and played.
Hey mines coming in the next two days is the system worth it?
I think it is. You really can't go wrong with either MinUI or GarlicOS. You'll have a blast with either one.
hello bro maybe my english is not that good but from what i understand you like this MinUI system more than GarlicOs, it is much easier to use MinUI without the need for retroarch, I will install this system on a new micro sd to do the tests, what I do not capture very well is the matter of the bios, they are already installing for each console in the bios folder, I hope you help me with my query, regarding bios, thank you very much for the video, I hope in the future I can install themes to this MinUI system
Hello my friend! You're English is good :) I like MinUI just a little more than GarlicOS, but they are both excellent!
The BIOS files are not included in MinUI, so you need to install them. The MinUI developer recommends you have these BIOS files:
FC: disksys.rom
GB: gb_bios.bin
GBA: gba_bios.bin
GBC: gbc_bios.bin
PS: psxonpsp660.bin
PCE: syscard3.pce
PKM: bios.min
SGB: sgb.bios
@@otggaming3180 I'll Google those bios and download them, put them in each folder of the corresponding consoles in the main bios folder.
@@otggaming3180 There is something I don't like about GarlicOs, the longest battery life is 2 hours and 30 minutes and if they are PS games it only lasts 2 hours
@@MundoNintend0 Yes, I wish the battery life was a bit better too. My battery lasts about the same as yours.
@@otggaming3180
you have 1st batch battery (2100mAh)?
I have the 2nd batch one (2600 mAh) and with intensive PS RPG such FFVII it last at least for 4hrs.
what a massive difference for 500mAh gap.
But it is an unsurprising fact that overbloated RA consumes more power more that stock OS in every chaynese retrohandheld knockoffs.
You can try to strip garlic frontend and packages to the bare necessary up to only the cores you really want to play. Loading RA with all default cores provided vs loading RA with 9 cores will save you 55MB of ram usage.
also, if prolonged battery life is your priority, you can disable boxart display. By having your system NOT loading images for every games will save you load time and preserve battery for more important stuff such, retrogaming.
Happy gaming my friend :)
What are the differences of this with batocera , garlic and koriki os ? Thanks
There's a nice thread here on the differences between GarlicOS and MinUI: www.reddit.com/r/RG35XX/comments/11i2598/can_somebody_do_a_breakdown_of_minui_and_garlic/
I haven't personally used Batocera or Koriki yet, but from what I understand they offer better performance allowing for even some N64 and NDS emulation on the 35XX. However, they are both still a bit buggy and so not recommended for your average user at this point.
@@otggaming3180 thanks for the info
Installed it, but hdmi output just doesnt work. All I get is the minui logo on the screen
Unfortunately, the developer of MinUI removed HDMI out support in the most recent release because it just wasn't working well :(
my windows 10 pc can't see the ROMS folder at all. I think this is because it's in fat32 file format at over 32gb. just realised that this is why i couldn't put roms on the stock os as well.
this is super annoying. doesn't matter how i format it or how big i make the partition, the roms partition just doesn't show up in file explorer. only the misc partition shows up. not sure if others are having the same problem.
Are you able to assign a drive letter to the ROMs partition using disk management? This is usually the most common reason for the ROMs partition not showing in File Explorer. I have a quick video on it here: czcams.com/video/Ywa-y8f0Bso/video.html
@@otggaming3180 Thankyou for the help, that's brilliant that you already had a vid for it haha. I actually ended up fixing the issue yesterday by using the file explorer that is built into disc genius and have been enjoying the os a bunch ever since! Will try this fix a little later too and report back on if it works for me as well :). Thanks again 👍.
@@otggaming3180 Just tried it and didn't work for me unfortunately. I have left a comment on their explaining my experience and the solution that worked for me though, cheers.
@@footspring94 No problem. I'm glad you were able to find a workaround. Happy gaming :)
Does this os run snes games such as super mario world, super mario all stars, and super mario kart at full speed?
Yes, all three run great. Even Super Mario World 2 which is one of the harder SNES games to emulate runs great.
@@otggaming3180 can you play gba games without a bios, and if so does it run at full speed without one?
@@ianproductions5540 I just tested a few games without the GBA bios and I couldn't really tell any performance difference. So I think it's safe to say you don't need the BIOS.
@@otggaming3180 Awesome! I'm excited for this thing to arrive
@@ianproductions5540 You'll have a blast with it. It's a great little console :)
Hi there, i follwed your steps exactly but when i put the card into the TF1 slot it dosent boot! it still boots the original stock sd card fine
Having the same issue, did you figure out a solution?
Same issue
Didnt work. i open the device and it just opens the stock firmware. HELP
Having the same issue, did you figure out a solution?
just added bios in the bios folder but still can't play games
all games are in the ps folder under roms
cant seem to play PCE & NEOGEO games
Thanks for the comment!
NEOGEO isn't supported, but PCE should work. The emulator is in the extras pack and the roms folder is named TurboGrafx-16.
this video really needs a updated version for the rg35xx plus and h version of minui because it installs totally different and their instructions suck
damn, i try to complete this instruction for couple days, and nothing works, thank you for your comment, maybe you know any MinUI instruction for rg35xx plus
Why does this guy remind me of that actor Lochlyn Munro lol??
