  • UniFi Traffic Rules For Parental Controls can actually be a very useful nifty feature that can help add another layer of control over your network. In this video we will focus on creating rules for parental controls.
The UniFi Traffic Rules feature has been with us for a while, it isnt a new feature, in this video i am just sharing my use cases as i encountered them in the real world. In these cases, UniFi Traffic Rules For Parental Controls worked like a charm.
The UniFi Traffic rules are a flavor of application firewall that take place on top of firewall rules. in fact, this is your only option to block specific items, apps or websites. Together with the option to time frame the blocking ruls, you have in fact created a parental controls mechanism.
UniFi Traffic Rules For Parental Controls is easy to use and understand and you do not need a network administrator to manage them. all you have to do is to select what is it you want t block, to who and when to block it. it is really as simple as that.
With UniFi Traffic Rules For Parental Controls unlike off the shelf routers these days, you can create restrictions that are almost tailor made. you can be as selective or as broad as you with. you can select individual devices along side entire vlans.
I hope this video on UniFi Traffic Rules For Parental Controls will become an inspiration or a basis for your rules and restrictions as you see fit. As parents we do need to make sure our kids stay safe online. good luck.

I liked this video on how you are able to block internet and or sites. What does the Routes and Static routes sections do or restrict or allow, can you give an example of what Static routes are?

I believe it would be settings > security > traffic rules from here you can block category app and select the apps. If you doing it through the app it’s in setting > security > traffic & firewall rules then add new in Destination select app or app group etc

    HI Avi,
My user interface is not the same as yours. For example i do not have a category called "App". Am i missing something?

It may depend on your device. I had a USG and it did not have that ability but when I upgraded to a Dream Machine SE, the traffic rules had all of the options in the video above. Hope this helps.
