IMPORTANT: The hose is tangle free, the valve part is a Venturi system and it normally comes with plastic connections to either clamp to a small tap or a white plastic threaded connector that screws into the aerator section of your mixer tap. We are not all like Mick and get away with filling your tank back up after a water change using just the cold tap, I empty my tank using a Python just like Mick but filling the tank back up I use the mixer tap to get the temperature nearly spot on as my fish are not tolerable of huge temperature swings. Micks Python has come with a brass tap connector and normally if you purchase a Python from Amazon the brass part is an option spare part that is around £10:00, Python comes in various sizes and separate extensions for longer hoses can also be purchased. Another reason why Python is successful is all parts can be purchased separately if you damage or break any parts from extended use as Mick says they last a long time.. I hope this information helps anyone who has questions that where not covered in this video. Take care all...

For me it’s a flood pump hose (B&Q or loads of places) to drain, hose pipe on a shower or mixer tap to fill back up. Doddle, cheap and will do me about 900L across three tanks in a couple of hours. The 25mm diameter of the pump hose means it drains way faster than a regular hose pipe or a python, plus they have a detachable strainer should you need it for smaller fish and I find it curls up to store a lot better than koi pond hose sold by the meter.

I wish I had one myself to buy one but I just shove a hose in and Chuck it outside whilst playing the ps5 till It’s drained enough and then I use the hozelock mixer tap connector and temp match the water. Then relax till it’s filled again.

I use this system but I connect an Oase Dechlorinator tube, the type they use for ponds, when refilling the tank. Then add Prime as it’s filling.

I ordered the python finally and now that I have two ND Aquatic tanks to clean, i thought this would be better than my old method. I also bought the 24" gravel vac as that's the height of both my tanks.
Used it for the first time today, and OMG, I wish I'd heard/bought one of these years ago! It was SO easy to clean the tank, and was was actually enjoyable to do the water changes (Never thought I would say that! 😁)
I hooked it up to my bathroom tap and away I went. It cost me just over £100 on Amazon for the 15ft, so it wasn't cheap, but I see it as a long term investment.

You need to get a Simple RO system in under your sink. Put in overflows and pipe straight out of your wall into the drain. Complete game changer. No water changes anymore. Drip system. Even if you can't leave them permanent on your tank you can hook them up overnight to different one's.

This is really helpful as I’m about to upgrade to a 6 x 2 x 2 & I’m going to have to give up buckets!
Could I ask a few questions Mick - because Python’s are American products I’m not sure if they’d fit our taps in Australia? From what I can see online standard laundry screw taps here are 35mm. The fact you’re in the UK (and we probably have similar metric standards) make me hopeful they’d work here?
And when the python is attached to your tap and draining the aquarium - are you wasting a lot of tap water in the process or am I misunderstanding how it works?
Cheers and thanks a million & keep the videos coming!

Filters that has one hole in it... I put it on the end of a garden hose job done...
£90 absolute rip-off... you can buy all those parts from B&Q for about 30 quid... sorry to say but buying two of those for

I'm surprised your using the python Mick it's only 1" pipe it must take forever. I got a 2" pond hose and connected it to a 12000 l/h pond pump whoooosh! Nae messing about. Btw what are you using for heating? I'm looking at 1200w ceramic heaters have you tried them?

I have been thinking about buying one of these for my two tanks, but I'm just wondering if the hose pipe kinks if I roll it up and store it away?
I currently use a combo of things to clean/fill my tank, a pond pump attached to a corrugated hose that runs to my toilet and that drains very quickly. then my 2ft long Fluval gravel vac and a trash can to get rid of the debris, and to fill my tank I connect my garden flexi hose to the kitchen tap.

The one thing i dont like is the water having to be running from the tap constantly. Unless iv been misinformed

    • @mattphillips6714
      @mattphillips6714 Před 2 lety

Jake this is why it’s easier to connect to the tap but once the hose is full shut off the tap then shut the valve near the tank, now unscrew the hose from the Venturi and place out the front door or convenient window, then open the valve near the tank and let gravity do the rest by emptying the tank, then reconnect the hose when ready to fill up again. This is how I do it, otherwise my water bill would be large..
