    I commented that I divided my 10 year old Dianthus just last week. They are already re-blooming! Two plants (one bright pink one pastel) are now twenty. I did mulch heavily and we're getting rain. I plan to divide next August again. You have taught me so much, Vita. Thank you.

    I love propagating plants; probably my favorite part of gardening. I did NOT know you could do this with Dianthus. I have to try this. I have some whites that have been in the ground for years and they have gotten huge. Would love to see what I can do with them. Thank you, so much!

      I'm so glad that I inspired you to want to divide your white Dianthus. You will be soooo glad next year when you have your Dianthus plants blooming all around your yard! On the south side of my house, I have a ton of white as well as pink Dianthus plants. I only bought one of each, and have divided those plants and moved them around every year. They are now a wonderful groundcover towards the front of that flower bed. 🥰🌺

      That's great that you're going to winter sow your Dianthus seeds! I love oak leaf hydrangeas. I have a few that I bought from a backyard plant nursery. I really need to get those in the ground soon! 😅

    Awww, they're so cute! Will you plant them out in the landscape this fall?

      Hi Maureen! No, I'll just heel the pots into the ground in my backyard plant nursery for the season. Then next year, when the Dianthus are blooming, I can look around my yard and find their forever home then. 😊🌸

    I learn so much from you. Will you put those pots in the ground now in your plant nursery? If I divided mine, could I just put in my flower bed?

    • @budgetgardeningvita
      @budgetgardeningvita  Před 17 dny

      Thank you, Lisa! I will be putting the Dianthus pots in my plant nursery because I just don't know where I want those plants out in my landscape. They will be heeled into the ground later this season. I'll make a video showing my process for heeling potted plants, why I do it, etc. But yes, you can definitely divide your Dianthus plants and then plant them directly out into your landscape. Happy gardening, friend! 😊🌸
