  • Did you know that you have been using your Osmo Action 3 wrong the whole time?
In this video, I'll be showing you why DJI Osmo Action 3 is a game changing action camera regarding capturing footage that you probably never thought about before.
And also why you should stop shooting in 16:9 aspect ratio.

I recommend watch it all to the end.

But then you lose horizon steady which is the main reason I would use an action cam

Well. It is still not using it wrong and secondly your FOV is different if you just use narrow 4:3. It is wider if you just turn the camera. And if you turn the camera you don't even need post processing because files metadata shows it as horizontal. This just a tip not using the camera wrong.

My point is that if a recorder video in 4:3 Ultra Wide then you can use the same clip for both long videos (youtube) and for Shorts/TikTok/Reels. If you only record in vertical, then you cannot use the same video for longer videos without cropping in a lot.
      Thanks for the comment.

That's a cool tip. I use this with my Osmo Action 3, which is a bit too sharp, to mitigate the distortions that this creates. The way you do it here is of course also possible, with a normal cam.

Thanks. I agree that OA3 is in some cases a bit too sharp. What is possible then is to enlarge a little so that the pixels are bigger, but it is not really recommended as it will only destroy the quality again.

I'm glad you found it useful. It is the same with Osmo Action 4 also.

I noticed that you had some stationary shots with the fixed focus. What I want to do is video a baseball game on the infield I'm thinking I would be fine doing that with this unit your thoughts

I don't know the baseball field very well, but as long as the people don't get too far away, I think it'll be fine. You get to take some tests before you go there.

Quick tip. Instead of scaling the image manually, just set "scale full frame with crop" in project input settings.
