  • In August I was very fortunate to be able to visit one of the small
soft vinyl factories in Tokyo. This place was about 10'x10' and is run
by a husband and wife couple - the Takashi's. The visit was organized
by Ricky Wilson (Velocitron) and tiy guru Maruyama-san. I tried my best
to get it all in here - the full process at the factory. It was an
amazing experience to see the figures being made, and to know that
these could be the same people pulling my figure in the coming months!
Thanks to all who made the visit possible, and thanks to all who take a
look. This is where your toys are made!!! Amazing!

Nice look at a Japanese job shop making designer vinyl toys. Appears the vinyl is pre-heated, then poured into a mold, which is then spin-casted.
I hope this couple has their shop ventilated. Working around polyvinyl acetate fumes is not the healthiest of environments. Worse if that is toluene in those troughs.
Now that I look at the video more closely, I think they are using a rotational caster for the molds. It just spins a lot faster than most roto- casters.

How much does it cost to produce a figure (aprox value)? and how many?
What is the best way to get in contact with a factory such as this one the video?
