  • Having had a espresso machine previously this De’Longhi is perfect for people on the go. The machine provides everything you need from bean to cup, so you are not worrying about grinding and packing the coffee, packing it, then disposing of it after every cup. It's all done cleanly and efficiently within the machine itself and there is even a handy pull out for emptying the spent coffee grounds. Quite simply, quick, clean and very convenient for that essential ‘coffee in a rush’ before work scenario.
    It’s standard operating modes out of the box are simple to use and can be tweaked to your liking too. Not only giving your your favourite type of coffee, but programmable functions to control the temperature, strength and quantity of milk. Resulting in getting your perfect cup. The grinder is quieter than I expected too, and is great that there is an option for the use of pre ground coffee too. The water tank reservoir is large enough at 1.3 litres for 10-15 cups of coffee, which is plenty for even larger families of coffee drinkers.
    Not only was the machine easily set up and boosts a welcome pack of descaler and maintenance tools. It is also handy to note that this machine boasts a self clean function too, which ensures the longevity of the inner workings of the machine, by being purges of residues etc.
    The only negative being that it can be tricky to fill depending on where in the kitchen you position the machine, as the reservoir is at the back and requires room to flip the lid up and refill. Its is also worth mentioning that as it is a bean to cup machine, having a grinder on top and a water tank too, the machine is quite long proportionately. So if you are having it on a worktop, you will have limited space. I have mine on a table non the other side of the kitchen instead.

    Cup warmer works well, although I don't really use it as I have the machine set to power off after a period of activity, which also means the hotplate switches off too.
    There is at least enough space for 4 espresso or two regular sized coffee cups/mugs.

    The coffee machine heats the water on demand when making the coffee. You can also adjust the temperature in the settings menu of the machine. The milk also comes out hot as it is steamed to make the milk froth. So both will come out hot. There is no need to use hot water or hot milk into the machines reservoirs or containers. I wouldn't recommend doing it either as adding hot milk could clog the frothing mechanism.

    Just got one of these at work. Seems to make good coffee but even running a "long coffee" hardly even outputs half a mug. How do you do a full mug of coffee?

    • @timothyandrews
      @timothyandrews  Před 6 lety

      you can program the amount of water it dispenses for each function. I would suggest programming the my coffee button to set the required amount to your liking. From memory this is fairly straight forward and should be detailed in one of the manuals for your machine. Hope this helps.

      Just press the button for two coffees. Two normal ones should do the job for what you would expect with "large"

    Hi, thanks for the video. I noticed that your machine is making a whirring noise. Mine does that too. I've seen videos and I can't hear the sound. Does anyone happen to know why that could be?

    • @teareviews1844
      @teareviews1844 Před 3 lety +1

      No coffee machine is silent due to the process of creating steam from the condensing unit when frothing the milk - noises from the water element heating the water as it despences, and the noise from the compacting of the ground coffee in preparation for having the hot water forced under pressure through the unit. The absence of noise in other people's videos will due to them either using a different mic setup when recording, which eliminates background noise, or they simply have muted audio post filming. Hope this helps. The noises are perfectly normal.

    Great review, only other thing I would like to have seen is how easy it is to clean

    • @syndieouellet2763
      @syndieouellet2763 Před 2 lety

      Really easy, it auto cleans itself before and after each use and the machine ask for descaling when needed.
      They say you need to clean de milk jar every couple days if you keep it in the fridge.
      Oh you have to clean with clear water an internal part but it's really easily accessible and done.
      Only draw back is that it takes way more water then you need for the coffee with all the cleanings but I better like to refill with water more often, then go to the lengthy cleaning processes of manual espresso set ups even if they are fun to operate and use.

    Pls i heared from the comments this mashine do the milk not hot some one said the milk had 35 C is that perfect pls answer me

    • @timothyandrews
      @timothyandrews  Před 5 lety

      Not sure I understand the question, but if your asking if it gets the milk hot then yes. It uses steam to froth the milk, so it comes out hot, but not very hot. The idea is when it mixes with your coffee it should be a drinkable temperature. Hope this answers your question.

    • @timothyandrews
      @timothyandrews  Před 3 lety +1

      Not that I am aware of, it's the heating element for the water tank that heats the cup warmer, so the two are intrinsically linked. You can set the sleep and auto off settings to suit your needs.

      Any to your taste - the grinder is fully adjustable. Maybe go to your local coffee wholesaler and they should help you find a flavour to your tastes.

      The machine will prompt you when it needs to clean the milk attatchment. When it promts with this message you turn the dial on the milk frother to clean and the machine will run a clean cycle.
