    The problem I had yesterday is a traffic light and pedestrian controlled cross roads turning right I noticed a woman on the left had side of the road I was entering waiting to cross on a electric buggy as it is a controlled junction and she should wait for the light to tell her to cross I carried on through the junction I remember in paris there is a continual audible warning to pedestrians not to cross until the light changes I always thought this was a good idea

    So, instead of investing money to make the roads safer FOR EVERYBODY, they just put ALL responsibility on the drivers and are waiting to collect the fines.

    Now examiner's are saying roundabouts are junctions so say you take the third exit on a mini roundabout if you have to stop to let a pedestrian across you are sitting across the entrance to your left and likely to be hit by a incoming vehicle every teacher I have put this to say that they are waiting for clarification but at the moment it is still a junction but they would not stop if the pedestrian was just waiting to cross

      When I contacted DVSA regarding junctions they told me that roundabouts are covered under section 4 of the highway code which makes no mention of pedestrians having priority, junctions are covered under section 3 of the GB highway code , the new rules are very badly worded and confusing plus the new rules do not apply to the Northern Ireland highway code meaning the UK has two highways codes which differ.

    Here is a point, a blind person with a guide dog, the dog is trained not to allow its owner to cross if there is a vehicle near even if you stop the dog will not move. So have a stand off car wants to give priority and the dogs training is to not cross if there is a car. Which bloody idiot thought this one up. Regards to a mini roundabout you have to give priority to pedestrians if you are approaching a roundabout, but the drivers who are on a roundabout the exit is a continuation of the road he has chosen there are no give way lines at the exit of a roundabout.

    Does giving way to pedestrians at junctions apply to mini roundabouts, roundabouts and traffic light junctions without pedestrian control ?

      Rule H2 states at a junction you should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which you are turning.
      They don't specify a specific type of junction. So it must apply to all types of junction.
      The lack of goverment communication/ guidance regarding the H2 Rule is bordering on the criminal.
      After 40 years of driving I am now unsure of procedure turning right at traffic lights with pedestrians waiting to cross. I can only presume the best course is to treat the junction as a box junction and not enter it as my exit road is not clear due to the pedestrians. This rule is madness.

      I have run the problem of mini roundabouts through three teachers on you tube not one has cum up with a straight answer taking the third exit is the problem do you stop and be sideways on to the incoming exit to your left putting yourself in danger of a side impact

    Cyclist should be made to wear high viz clothing and put lights on their bikes to give them the best chance to be seen or risk having their bikes seized and crushed road safety is not just the driver

    New law .and I quote, Cyclists ride in the middle of the road to make yourself visible in certain circumstances. To a Cyclists that will mean ride in the middle of the road all the friggin time .

    • @craig291086
      @craig291086 Před 2 lety

      Yeah and that they can ride abreast with one another. This can make overtaken impossible on certain roads as you have to give 1.5 worth of space. I’ve got a 60 on which they’re riding like this. It’s going to lead to a death.

    • @georgebarnes8163
      @georgebarnes8163 Před 2 lety

      Not a law but a suggestion to ride centre of lane in certain circumstances, the rules do not mention centre of road as you claim.

    • @chris1275cc
      @chris1275cc Před 2 lety

      "and I quote" Then go on to NOT quote but give your own bullshit version of the rule.
      1) Ride in the centre *of your lane*, to make yourself as clearly visible as possible, in the following situations:
      ▶on quiet roads or streets - if a faster vehicle comes up behind you, move to the left to enable them to overtake, if you can do so safely.
      ▶in slower-moving traffic - when the traffic around you starts to flow more freely, move over to the left if you can do so safely so that faster vehicles behind you can overtake
      ▶at the approach to junctions or road narrowings where it would be unsafe for drivers to overtake you
