This video series shows how to transform an old snowmobile to a Snowdog / Track Sled.
In part 12 I do the first ride on the second season. This is also last part of How to build a Snowdog -series. I am also presenteing my new Snowmobile, which I am going to try to use for Winter trail grooming. I'll publish videos later how does that work on a Snowmobile.

Yes very good machine for track grooming. I wish I could find one in Canada! I have a 03 Arctic Cat 900cc, heavy and way more power than I need.

Seems to be. Also one advantage seems to be that the snowmobile is quite narrow and I managed to go between trees pretty well on our trail. And it steers much better that track sled, at leas when there is some snow. I have already had first experiences of grooming with that and the video material waits for the editing.

By the way, I have found an interesting product: vaellan.com/ My friend is a owner of that company, but I haven't tested that product yet.

Currently waiting for more snow. But meanwhile I am trying to restore the seat of the snowmobile. If everything goes well, I will publish a video of the seat restoration without sewing. I just came out of the garage where I was inspecting the old seat and shooting some footage of that.

Hyvä projekti oli kuitenkin. Paljoko sait tosta rahaa takasin? Takkiin tuli varmaan jonkin verran, jos veikata saa.

Kiitos! :)

@@activelifeinfinland oho, no tuossahan kävi ihan hyvin kun paljolti materiaalien hinnan sai kuitenkin takaisin. Harrastuksiin kuuluukin mennä aikaa (ja myös rahaakin). Tsemppiä tulevaankin projektiin, pitääpi seurailla!

I wonder if the snowdogs you can buy work better?, not that it matters cause you can't really buy them anymore anyway since they are made in Russia.
Judging by this video the one you can buy does seem more capable czcams.com/video/8SZLT_eTuVg/video.html. Not dissing your homemade version, not like I could make one.

Yeah, possibly they could perform a bit better, because of 10cm wider track. But there still enhancements that you may need to do, for example this: czcams.com/video/dU9KsbG2JxU/video.htmlsi=hEE2UlPLgLQckfuH
But eventually, everything debends on what you want to do with the thing. I would say, that track sled performs well on even and open area. If you have longer powder snow uphills or you need to turn very tight, or there is a lot of slush on the ice, Snowdog is not very practical. I have also heard that the quality of Snowdog and Tingerdog is quite poor, easpecially if you are maintaining longer trails with those things. There are durability issues on the frames and drivetrain.
