Firstly, don't want to start an argument but people can eat whatever they want.
I kinda dislike how a lot of people are being pushy to Simon and Martina to be vegan/vegetarian (it's fine to suggest and so on in my opinion), personally I'm not either but I'm friends with some and it's nice to experience some foods they love but to each their own. These two youtubers are not going to be any less amazing and wonderful than they already are by continuing to eat meat, just love them for who they are, and if you're uncomfortable kindly move on to another video :)
(This is just in response to comments who are like "You guys are cool but you eat meat" and so on, don't degrade someone just because of their eating preferences)
+Gyggzify ah, I don't mind it. I mean, it's helping us consider Veganism. We're not convinced yet, but we're looking into it, and that's thanks to the commenters. Some people are a bit too convinced by veganism and think it'll cure Martina's DNA (which it won't) but it's helping us think about alternative health, at least. I appreciate the sentiment :)
Will we get an update on how Martina's visit with the specialist went? If you don't mind me asking >.
+mikekun15 she went once, and it wasn't really eventful, but she's supposed to go again. The first appointment was just introductions and assessments. Next appointment (in a couple of weeks) will try to change her pain meds. Hopefully they'll give her something that works!
I think its ok to eat meat once in a while. I love animals and the ideas behind veganism, but meat tastes really good too. I do know that the akita beef process is incredibly cruel but I would try it at least once in my life. I love Simon and Martina, and I don't think they deserve any type of hate, if people don't like what they do, they can kindly click away in my opinion. ✌
I suppose that did come out as the main message :) I don't mind people suggesting it, I just dislike it when people indicate that someone's less of a good person because of their diet choices ^^ If you wanna go vegan then I'll support you all the way!!

It looks delicious but knowing the cow's name, seeing the nose print, death certificate, and family tree information sitting right there and then you have to eat the cow kind of creeps me out. Like I love meat but I do feel bad they had to die... Personalizing it to the point it almost seemed like a pet and then killing it and serving it makes the guilt even worse.
No I disagree, truly appreciating the cow's meat and knowing it was raised well is much better than mindlessly eating it in a burger in maccys. I'd say if you're gonna eat meat this is the best way to do it, know exactly where it came from and appreciate how good it tastes.

This is literally the last video a vegan should be attacking... the cattle in Japan are raised with incredible care and many of them in what would be considered luxury even to some humans. Then again vegans tend to wrap themselves in a bubble of people who just constantly pat them on the back and justify their views of all animal products as evil.

I just checked the restaurant's website. The cheapest meal is $180 for 6 courses, and the most expensive is $300 for 9 courses. Still, for fine dining it seems reasonable, and if I had the money I would love to eat there.
Sable Rain I've honestly never eaten at a fine dining establishment before, so I can't compare either. Sadly, as Gina posted, there's the dilemma of going to Japan, I don't even have money for that. ;_; Maybe someday.

There are many methods people use to try to get people to come to their religion, but perhaps the most successful is when people want to learn about it, and together they have a peaceful, open-minded discussion.
One of the least successful methods is street preachers, people holding signs in the street that warn of damnation, and they usually scream in microphones angrily. All it does is make people pissed off, and turn away from you.
I'm an atheist myself, but when I see vegans call omnivores who are educated about animal welfare, "awful" human beings for not becoming vegan, you're really just up on a high horse. It took me about a year to become vegetarian, and much longer to become vegan.
For most people change doesn't happen overnight.
Breaking habits is harder than just watching a documentary about animal abuse.

That is slowly changing, as Japanese begin to eat more meat. So..
BI OD Okinawa eats a lot of pork..look it up!! And Monaco is also ranked the first and they eat a lot of cheese and meat. Hong Kong is also ranked high, and they eat a lot of meat also. The key is to have unprocessed food. Like if you wanna eat meat, then fire it and have vegetables with it.
in my country tooo. raw, boiled vegetables, fresh boiled fish, with boiled meat with fresh herbs. balanced diet is the key!

I agree there are a lot of vegan youtubers that are great and pass the message on in the right way. i love watching several of them and to be honest eat a lot more vegan and vegetarian meals and really enjoy them. but its the ones that try to shame you into it instead of just letting people know the facts that turn me off of it completely. you can state the facts without shaming a person.

I'm a vegetarian and I literally could give 0 shits about them eating beef. It is absolutely their choice what they consume. Although I wouldn't eat it this beef does look absolutely great so why shouldn't they enjoy it? As far as I'm concerned cows in countries like japan or korea even have a "happier" life than those in western countries so I think it's more acceptable to promote eating beef there :)

That certificate is so interesting! I'd love to have that kind of thing on meat products, I love knowing the history of what I'm eating, the life of the animal, etc. I remember eating at a small farm where the owner could tell us which animal went into making each dish and you could see the life they enjoyed. It's great to know where your food comes from and understand the care and processes that go into food production.

Are you saying that when the farmer showed you the slaughter process it was similar to the way your grandparents slaughtered animals on their smallholding?
Smithpolly Yep, the way they spoke about the animal and their care and slaughter methods was very similar. I find that most farmers are very respectful of animals and passionate about their care and quality of life. If you're interested in food production, you should definitely check your local small farms to see if they have dining experiences.

We just dined at Gomei Ginza Tokyo today from this video. I just had this Akita Waygu Tenderloin today. Simon and Martina your reactions were spot on. We were looking for the BEST Waygu in Tokyo and this video helped me make the final choice. Expensive meal, but our private room dinner from the exquisite Master Chef Yoshi was the perfect form of art, wonderful conversations and experience we will remember for a lifetime.

Akita is just the name of the region, that can also include the name of the dog breed. A lot of Japanese product is labeled by region.

We've been to Sweden a couple of times and we love it there! Stockholm is gorgeous. And we just watched the episode of Brooklyn 99 with the two Swedish cops and we laughed a lot. Is it true that Swedish people don't like Danish people, or was that just a joke? Either way, we still love Sweden :D

Hey Marco, speaking of unsustainable, please research "peak phosphorus." I think that you'll find that a planet full of 8 billion vegans would also be unsustainable not to mention the pollution generated from phosphorus. Phosphate mining is destructive and dangerous. Omnivore eating habits is actually more sustainable and causes less pollution overall.

We were there for lunch today... first time in Japan and I had the lunch planned earlier than our accomodation 😄 It was FANTASTIC. An incredible experience, service and food were unreal. And the chef... don’t get me started! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

I'm going to nitpick a bit, seems every bite had wasabi on it. How in the world could one taste the true character of the beef with such a potent side included?
I totally know what your'e saying, but those were only the bites you saw on camera. I personally enjoyed it the most on its own or gently dipped in the salt they provided. I thought the wasabi was too overpowering with the steak but near the end of the meal it worked to balance out all the buttery and creamy flavours going on in my mouth. So I would recommend only enjoyed it with wasabi near the end of the meal. 😊

Ahhh. Do not like how they gave you the name of the cow and its family and then they serve that cow's cut up flesh to you on fine china. With it's cute nose print on her own death certificate. Yikes. 0.0 That's a personalized touch I feel makes matters just a bit more morbid and less appetizing. Love you guys! Just not sure how I feel about the meat eating culture! I just hope Japan's slaughterhouses are a bit more humane here in North America.

It seems morbid but in fact I think this is an attempt to acknowledge and respect the origin of the food on the plate, which is respectable. Just like how someone who was saved from kidney failure might want to meet the family of the person whose kidney they received to stay alive, it's so they didn't "die for nothing", yknow?

Usually local farms have more humane slaughtering methods and cow for this type of meat are usually treated really well
this is used to prove that the meat is authentic. Many places try to say they are selling the same grade of meat but are frauds, so this is used as proof.
since it's a4 quality they definitely treated the cow exceptionally well. lower quallity, not so much
