We had to go for this as needed 7 seats with 3 kids. Great car but one key point missing in the review is drive quality in a passive suspension… not great and feels like a boat going around corners. Point about the brakes is very valid as well… way too much dead press at the top, which then makes you hit the brake harder than you need to! With 7 seats open you will need a roof box, which will then have an impact on your range.
Otherwise a typically pleasant Mercedes!
I love the comfort and its so practical. I have a roof box. Range is no issue for me, I am getting 230 miles in winter and around 260-280 in summer.
@@joey3184then you must do only city driving. I can't imagine how going on a long road trip with this will be like?
@@HelloMyFriend_Most people in need of a 7 seater, electric SUV will be doing mostly city driving. If you’re worried about range on motorway journeys then just get a GLB diesel.
Kia EV9 is more than needed in the market!
Sounds like 7 seats are the default version in the UK..? Here in the US those two extra seats are just an option. Of course those extra seats are for children, not sure why you would complain about the headroom there :). The relatively compact size was a big factor for us as any longer car than this would not fit into our garage; this one just barely does - o problem thanks to the reliable parking sensors.
The moonroof should be standard in a luxury car like this, it makes for a big experience difference.
I’m not too worried about the range - it’s plenty enough for several days of local/regional driving before one needs to recharge (we usually recharge back to 80% anytime we ended up below 50, and charge to 100 only when a longer trip is planned).
The quietness of this car is amazing, feels like being in an S class. I agree with your observations about the brake behavior, surprising for a car of this price class.
Owner of one, love it. As stated, there are no other options if you want 7 seats. You said Android Auto, haven't gotten that to work. Not sure it's supported, at least not on the 2023 model.
There are 7 seats
I test drove the eqb and I didn't note any of the weirdness in the brake feel. In fact, I thought the brake pedal was very firm with not much dead travel
Thanks for a great and detailed overview including trunk size with and without 3rd row
63k for the average man in the street is just way too expensive. I think manufacturers have lost the plot when it comes to new cars. What happened when everyone used to buy a supermini as a family car.
Anyone wanting a 7 seater would be better buying a 7 seater VW TOURAN.
Mercedes has never made vehicles for the average man. They make vehicles for the very successful man.
@@CMCNestT no, they make vehicles for the average man that wants to look like a very successful man
@@deadlydizzle3942 exactly mercedes are not luxury anymore
There will no longer be super minis. The shift to full EV means the death of small cars
@@CMCNestT Mercedes make taxis
So it's the exact same car as its fossil fuel equivalent only it's more expensive and its range and charging speed is about 3 years behind the competitors. Something tells me Mercedes is relying on its past and brand loyalty.
What EV do you know that has better range around same price? ALL have an average range between 220 - 330 miles. That includes Audi, BMW, Merc, Tesla. Even if you go for the EQS or Volvo EX90, it has a max range of 360 and in real life that will be 300. People think you can get 700 miles in other EVs haha
@@joey3184a model y has 330 mile range, a super charger network and is almost 10k cheaper
Charging speed is actually good. Mercedes have very flat charging curves. Other manufacturers quote high peak rates but they can't sustain them. e.g. EQB charges quicker than a MachE despite the lower peak rate. EQB is a great car, especially if you need a 7 seater.
Just what the world needs, another 2000kg plus, £50K+, 250-300ish miles SUV….Good informed review however.
How many other 7 seater EVs are there?
This is perfect for us with 3 kids and extended family who can't drive, the only other options was a van or 120k Tesla.
Not a good looking vehicle. I'd wait for the Kia EV9.
Agreed it looks so boring. Lame styling.
That front end is ridiculously mediocre.
Im confused, an EV channel thought the rear space was good and the 7 seats are ok but you can sit upright
I was under the impression that the 6th and 7th seats aren't standard but are add-ons that cost over 1000 pounds.
Oh yeah, adaptive cruise control isn't standard either. They're overcharging quite a bit good old Mercedes.
Nope. Not for the average person or non FOMO persons.
Does eqb estate 350 comes with sun roof?
What about the Kia EV9
Touchpads and touchscreens aren't as safe as physical buttons and knobs, since they require drivers to take their eyes off the road. Physical interfaces can work on muscle memory. Large screens also tend to distract, and require frequent driver's eye adjustments on dark roads.
This is not the way to keep up Mercedes…!
nice car, but what's with the compulsory suede-effect seats???
In the US the suede leather (smells fantastic…) is an extra; the default here is always the black artificial leather.
@@svenfreitag2587 you're lucky in the US, here in the UK there's no choice, just the suede.
@@ViewBothSides Every market has their weird idiosyncrasies - in the US we have certain upgrade packages (e.g. "AMG" which also brings the suede leather seats, "Technology" which adds heads-up display, VR-assisted navigation and parking cameras - but strangely enough the dashcam is deactivated in the US and cannot even be added after the fact -, and so on) There is no a-la-carte choosing of features unless one wants to wait a very long time and have additional costs.
I really like the looks of this EV inside and out but it’s mediocre specs make it overpriced. I think this could be a nice car to pick up used at a drastically reduced price if you just need a second are and you have another one for long trips. If you need 7 seats a Model Y can be configured that way but at this point, if I wanted 7 seats I’d probably just get a plugin hybrid if I wanted to drive electric or wait for the Kia EV 7. I’m guessing the ID Buzz is going to be pretty unobtainable for a while after it gets here.
Model Y can't be configured to 7 seats in Europe. Such a shame
Model Y is not 7 seat in Australia. Otherwise it a default option straight away
I own a Tesla Model Y 7 seat option that is similar price and better at a lot of specs. It looks like this has less 3rd row space but is a nicer inside. Why do you not mention the Y as an electric 7 seat option? Been out for years.
The 7 seat TMY is not sold in the UK so far.
the model y 7 seats is only sold in the us
The touch pad is a horror. Anything touching it will change settings in the car. For example, a stray loop from your USB-C cable will actuate the system. Other problems as well such as the mode to follow speed limits. Traveling past a school around midnight, will jam on the breaks from 35 to 15 mph. Passing a highway sign for 70 followed by a 65 for trucks and a 55 for buses in the space of 100 yards will activate all three. Turn that system off. Lane keeping can throw you from one side of the road to the other. Turn that off. And for god's sake, how many miles per watt hour would it take to scroll the name of the currently playing song? I keep other automatic conveniences off as well. I don't like the nickel and dime approach to keeping the features you thought you purchased active after a period of time. With all this said, I love driving the car.
Why not to compare with Tesla Y model?
Overpriced ,not quick , slow charging , no dedicated ev platform , not aerodynamic, not officiant , not even looking good just looking old and tired 👎👎👎🤮🤮🤮
Most spacious , most comfortable suspension , most silent driving. And the only one on the market available.
seriously are you comparing a EV6 to EQB? two complete different classes. now the EV9 is a good comparison :)
Such inaccurate information. I have one on salary sacrafice. I get 230 miles on a bad day, thats 20 miles less than advertised and 270-290 during summer. Thats 20-30 miles more than advertised. BMW iX xdrive 40 costs 69K and gives you 220 miles with advertised milage if 257 miles.
You probably don't drive on the motorway then.
I bought one 60k 10 months ago now it’s 35k.
tesla model y theres a 7 seats option
you look like Chris Martin in Yellow music video.
Have never seen a situation where a 7 seat car needed an adult male to get in the back, its worth pointing out I guess but in reality its never happening.
So cute 🥺🥰
This car depreciation is faster than it’s 0-60 time.
Not today Satan.
With any third row vehicle, which requires a second row passenger to first exit the vehicle, is a poor choice for anyone who values the safety of the children. You’d have to ask, what happens if it goes pair shaped? Will the third row passengers make it out by themselves or will they need extraction by emergency services; why take the risk? And where’s the rear crumple zone? Oh yes, it’s where your youngest children were.
I can't even afford the car I have already 😢
Kia EV9 similar price and bigger battery and faster charge
interesting that Kia is now outcompeting MB..
In no way is it similarly priced. Face-palm
You would have to be brave to buy the Kia EV9, it's depreciation is one of the worst.
not for me....old looking car.
Family
Impressive
Old charging tech already, poor range and the ICE equivalent is £10-12k cheaper.
Check out the used prices of these, they are cheap. Around £32k for a nearly new mercedes SUV with 7 seats!
I’ve got the GLB - 7 seat - petrol.
These things are just not appealing enough to the masses yet
Kia EV9 is more than needed in the market
So we shouldn’t have any other hatchback options because the ford focus exists right?
Very nice
The tesla model Y has a 7 seat option and you do not lose as much space in the back. Also the model x has a more spacious 7 seater option for 80k configured. So about 14k more than this one. This may not be too big of a difference for many and the X comes with front and back tv’s with theater streaming services.
Nice 💯
Amazing
Mercedes have lost the plot, their prices for cars have gone ridiculous, can buy a Kia for a lot less and the quality will be on par with Mercedes…good luck shifting any cars Mercedes 😅😅
Have you seen the price of the Kia EV9? I'd love the Kia, but it's way more expensive than getting another EQB.
@@MyMednas : but the EV9 is a much better full mid 3-row SUV inside out. EQB is a small SUV and comes with a small, weak battery from CATL in China -- ie, small range and slow charging. MB is also moving to LFP which is cheap, but also inferior, to cut cost.
👍
That’s a brown car.
❤❤
The EV market is now in a coma !
Over priced and under performer very dark and annoying interior colours
But it’s so massive
