Michigan UP Day Ride on the Trails with GAIA GPS ROUTE

- In this episode, we feature a nice loop on the trails north of Newberry, MI that circle around near Whitefish point and to Paradise, MI. You can gas up in Paradise and grab some food. There are a few shops to pick up goodies too. I use GAIA GPS for navigation and the link to this route is listed below. Feel free to record you own route and share it in the comments for us all to enjoy!
As for lodging, there are lots of UTV friendly places to stay where you can get on the trails from. I've heard great things about Critters campground (link below) although I've never been myself.

Did this same trail last year. Part of the enjoyment is finding some random lake off the trail to pull over and spend the night......then do i all over the next day. I couldn't tell you where we were but we were lost.....thats part of the fun! As long as you have gas in your machine, ride ride ride. Can't wait to go back!

We have a cabin outside of Paradise and were running alot of those same trails over Memorial weekend. Weather was beautiful and the bugs weren't real bad. Congrats on the cabin it's a nice area.
Thanks! It was such a great weekend! I was really surprised that the mosquitos were worse than the black flies at camp but I still love it up there! Paradise is an excellent area!!

Love your videos . We are heading to Paradise for a couple days . Is there an ORV trail map available for the area?
Thanks, I really appreciate that and thanks for watching! There may be a map in Paradise at the gas station that looks like a log cabin but I'm not 100% sure. I usually use GAIA and Ride Command to show me the maps. I found this link that shows luce county trail maps and I'm sure you can get them from the DNR office on the south side of Newberry.

Quick question for you, looking at the the route you have when leaving Paradise and heading north on M123, were you on the riding on the road or the shoulder of the road or was there a trail you road that was just off the road?
Heading north out of paradise, we drove on the side of the road. Legally, you can drive in the shoulder at 25mph (local roads only, no M roads). Thanks for watching!
I knew you couldn’t drive on M roads, I just looked at the map closer and didn’t realize M123 heads west in Paradise. I thought it continued north. Thanks for the reply.
How do you know where to go? Maps are terrible from what I have found and Polaris ride app doesn't show interconnecting. Headed there this weekend.
Honestly, we love to explore and I record my routes in the GAIA app. While keeping the routes, I mark waypoints for points of interest, holes and hazards, etc. I would suggest exploring any trail that looks interesting - one of the reasons we have a shirt in the store that says 'I wonder where that trail goes' - we do that a lot :). You can drop in paradise, newberry or any trail head in the area. This route ties into any of the main trail systems. Thanks for watching!
What time of year did you go weather looks great
It was in late May over the Memorial Day holiday. Weather is great but the bugs can be out in force depending on the area. If it's windy, then you'll have good luck. The best riding season is July - September and even into October if you don't mind it being a bit chilly! Thanks for watching!

Would say a 74” side by side would be ok on this route?
Yes, most of the route is wide and some spots will have branches swatting the rig but you’ll make it just fine. Thanks for watching and have fun!!
