As a girl with an anxious attachment style from being neglected as a child, I had issues when I was younger where I would get too close to guys sometimes even without really wanting to because I was so desperate for affection and acceptance, and I've always felt ashamed and judged about that being part of my past. But this song kind of helps me see it for what it was - that I was young and scared to be alone at night (I spent months completely alone because my dad left on a lot of trips and it was just us two) and that it doesn't mean I'm a bad person. This song portrays so much compassion, I love it ❤️

I've been listening to Alec for almost six years now, I think. I'd always been a fan of his voice and his lyrics, but this one has a special place in my heart. I was going through a really tough time in my life when it came out. On top of some serious family fallout, I had just gone through the loss of my first love. We had been best friends and they had been the first person I genuinely trusted with my whole heart. It didn't end well... I loved them but we were young and their parents weren't exactly forthcoming with support. Back then, I used to wonder, what if we had run away and built a life together as we talked about? What if we left everyone behind just so we wouldn't be judged? I know now that it wouldn't have worked, but with every word in this song, I remember those painful nights of never knowing or understanding why things had to end the way they did.

Damn, this is 6 years old already. I remember coming across this when it was first released, still such a great song. I'm glad to see he blew up, he definitely deserved it back then and now.
I remember when this song released. I never realized how early on I found Alec. This was back when I mainly listened to nightcore in middle school. I listened to all of his songs in nightcore at the time, but coming back to this song out of my nightcore phase 5 years later is just so nostalgic and nice. I was really surprised to hear more ppl knew Alec, not bc I didn’t think he was good enough, but bc I just never thought abt it. I remember when I first listened I immediately fell in love with his voice, I suppose it’s only natural that everyone who hears his voice feels this way. I’m glad Alec is still releasing music. This was the first song I ever listened to. I had never heard of him before, but now that I am a huge fan, I think everyone should know about him because his music is amazing!
This song is my reminder that I'm still young instead of trying to close myself with others and only love her I should let go of her and focus on myself
Not gonna lie, this song hits on a personal level. I suffer from depression and I was in one of my deep depressions and had a breakdown and went to my best friend who I liked but she was already taken. And I talked to her and my depression lead me to say some bad things and she basically said goodbye and blocked me. My heart hurts so bad because I liked her and she liked me but like the lyrics, I was to young, anyways I know nobody probably cares about some random comment but I just wanted to get this off my chest.
Edit: thank you guys so much for the support. Since I posted this comment I have gotten better. I have been doing good with life. I know im just some random guy but for what its worth, thank you guys so much😁😁

After 3 years of dating 8th grade - junior year we broke up 11/25/2022. i really loved him, idk if he ever felt the same way i did during our relationship. I don't know why but the lyrics of this song always gives me the chills. I can always imagine the scenario portrayed by the lyrics in my head and it saddens me immensely. This song always reminds me of Her. We loved each other so much. Things were hard back then and now i realised i wasted 2 whole years of my life giving in for sorrow making bad decisions one after another. Today i accidently found screenshots of our old conversations, and for the first time i wasnt sad because it was over, i was happy that it happened, i smiled on every single thing i read. Therapy and friends helped me but those messages gave back everything to me. If such a wonderful girl thinks im amazing and can fall for me, why should i be sad. I wasted my energy and time on people who didnt even deserved me and lowered myself to the point i even dated drug abusers. She is happy, and now i am too, i dont wish her, it would be selfish. Im gonna keep working on myself and look for someone who can make me feel the same way and can match the same energy. If i deserves a girl like her at one my lowest point of my life then now too, because i will be better then i was back then. I will look, i know there is a lot of special girls, and i wont be making the same mistakes because im lonely. Stay strong kings and queens, i know it might hurt now, and its needs time to heal but you all will be better and will find someone who might even be better.

Two days ago, my girlfriend cheated on me with a man. I've been cheated on before, and I have had breakups before. But they were nothing like this one. I loved this girl so much. She said she loved me too. And we were getting really serious. About a week ago, she asked which one of us would propose. She was perfect. She was strikingly beautiful and had a strong presence. When she walked into a room, everyone's heads would turn to her. She was smart, and had he perfect balance between emotion and logic. And she was very caring towards everyone and very open-minded. I loved her so much, when she cheated, I was willing to give her another chance. She said no. We should just break up. I don't know what I did wrong. I bought a her gifts, spent time with her(but left enough time for her to spend with friend and family), and treated with all the kindness in my heart. And she did the same for me. She said, "That morning, I woke up and suddenly... I wasn't so lovestruck anymore." We had been dating for 3 years. You know, it was always my greatest fear, that one day, the people who loved me would wake up and suddenly not be able to see past any of my flaws. And to be honest, I'm not that mad at her for cheating. People as great as her deserve other great people, not me. She once told me she thought we were soulmates. And today, I was going to propose. Now I'm spending today alone at home.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I have always had trouble loving myself. I guess that is why I am so clingy, because I use all my love on others. But people hate clingy people. I know that people need space, but that is just how I am. As I said, nobody like clingy people. So nobody stays with me very long, that's why I am having so much trouble moving on. What if I don't find anyone else who can put up with me? Moving on is nothing new, but it never gets easier. Life's great, but can be a real bitch.
