The metroidvania genre has been exploding this year.
EpicLS Right? Like how many this past month alone.
Griffnix not really in numbers but in popularity and quality. Last year Hollow knight came out and got 9s and 10s from everyone. This year almost every metroidvania released has gotten outstanding scores. It seems like every game in the genre is a masterpiece.
You wouldn't give this crap or celeste more than a 8.

Absolutely tremendous game just like the first one. Finished it yesterday, I'm about 4 trophies away from 100%. I can see the final chicken level after opening the door is going to break me.
I'll just wait for the inevitable Nintendo switch version

Haven’t finished the game yet but LOVING it so far. Hoping for dlc in the future. I just can’t get enough Guacamelee.
I really like how funny it is. My favourite character is tostada because I find a lot of her lines hilarious. I'm playing with my dad and we haven't finished it because we want to get all the key parts.
Thanks drinkbox studios for creating such fun end folkloric game based in Mexico.

Oh my 10 out of 10 second time. I am playing the first one now bundled with this one and I am enjoying this massively the soundtrack from the first one is amazing. It just plays well you are intrigued in Juan just the first second you drop in you are like he is gonna turn in an awesome luchadore.
9.3, nice! I gave the first game a chance when it was free on Xbox, loved the game and went back through it co-op recently. I forgot this was coming out soon so I'll definitely purchase this gem.
I know it's on Steam luckily.

Part 1 was an absolute joy to play! I would have never known if it wasn’t for games with gold lol cant wait to play part 2!
Very fun game, some of the segments for 100% completion are seriously challenging but that's definitely a strength rather than a weakness.
Seems like an amazing year for indie games.

I didnt even like the first one that much but this one is a polished masterpiece, I cant stop playing it on switch, with this game, hollow knight, and dead cells, metroidvania is making a huge comeback. Buy this game it is amazing.

no need this is the story : In a small village in Mexico, Juan Aguacate is a humble agave farmer who is on his way to meet his childhood friend and love interest, El Presidente's Daughter when an evil charro skeleton named Carlos Calaca attacks the village and kidnaps El Presidente's Daughter, Juan is killed by Carlos during his attempt to stop him and winds up in the land of the dead. There, a mysterious luchador named Tostada gives Juan a mysterious mask that transforms him into a powerful luchador and brings him back to the world of the living. The game then follows Juan's battle to rescue his beloved to stop Calaca's plan to sacrifice her in a ritual to unite the worlds of living and dead to rule both.
While he confronts X'tabay, the first of Calaca's lieutenants, he ends up transformed into a rooster and brought back to human form by another rooster with mysterious powers. After defeating X'tabay, she reforms, revealing that Calaca was once a great rodeo man who broke his arm just before an important competition, and sold his soul to the Devil to have it healed time enough for the competition, but just after winning, the Devil enacts his payment and drags him to hell, but with X'tabay's help he deceived the Devil by having him transformed into the same rooster who helped Juan, and wants him to defeat Calaca in order to restore his power.
After confronting the rest of Calaca's forces, Juan pursues him up to the altar where the ceremony is being held and destroys him, but does not arrive in time to save El Presidente's Daughter. In the normal ending, Juan returns to his village and lives his life in peace until reuniting with El Presidente's Daughter in the afterlife. In the true ending, attained after completing certain feats in the game, El Presidente's Daughter is revived by the power of Juan's mask and the two return to the village where they get married.
But you must play both, totally worth your time

This so reminds me of Shanoa from Castlevania. That game with Shanoa (Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia) was easily one of the best games of all time. It's when Konami was at its best.
It arguably sneaks in as a top 5 Castlevania game. Very arguably. So it's definitely not easily one of the best games ever. Another Castlevania game near that level of quality would be very worth buying even today, though.

I got Platinum for PS3 and PS4 getting the orbs and completing El infierno challenge with gold was a pain. but it's worth it to get Platinum. GUACAMOLEE 2 wait for me

Cool art and combat but the platforming in the first game was too frustrating for me. Not a big fan of platformers and the platforming was harder than any Metroidvania I’ve ever played. Including Super Metroid.

Guacamelee 1 is great Guacamelee 2 - not so much. The controls are far too lose for the precision platforming required in Guac2.

They messed up the grapple, it's slow now and kinda ruins the flow of combat.
How to be super powerful in guacamelee 2
1. Buy proving grounds dlc and do all challenges but all will be gold
2. After that golden secret door will unlock go in there and select Salvador
3. Collect money and buy all ability's and health and stamina chests
4. Congratulations now skeletons will die in 1 special punch
Compared to Celeste this game is easy

I had an absolute blast with this and I think a 9.3 is spot on. If you have any love for the original, trust me, this is even better. It's a superb sequel, and one that understands what made the original so popular in the first place, expanding on it's strengths in new and interesting ways. Highly recommended, get on it!

Idk why I didn't like the first one I didn't like the gameplay and the artwork it's not for me xC I keep my eyes in another metrodvinia
During my first hour, I was surprised by how it felt, and it looked like I was playing a Flash game. After the first hour, I ended up loving the game. I didn't think I'd ever be into a 2D game, but I couldn't stop myself. I should revisit it, since I'm close to getting a platinum.

These games are pure gamplay without all the bullshit. If you want to see games with a lot of bullshit (crappy storys) with lackluster shallow gameplay look at most of the PS4's library. Indie scene has basically saved gaming from the horrid direction it was headed.
