have always had trouble with one music concept, and that is 2/4 time, 4/4 time. What makes that the way it is? What beat is Dancing in the Dark done in? Some examples probably would be more help than a word explanation only. Maybe if I knew what timing Bob Matley used, that backbeat thing, I would better understand this. Most songs I play, I just know the timing, don't have to see sheet music, or wander trying to find the right tempo and rhythm. Thank you, to anyone who can shed some light on this! Not a beginner, look up the chords all the time for new songs I do not know, have no issue with speed, or chord formation, just do not get the x/4 beat. Do know there are other types where I have typed the number "4". Have seen /8 I believe, as an example.

The top number shows how many beats in a bar , what you count in the bar ( i.e. 2/4 =two beats, 4/4= four beats, etc.). The bottom number shows the note length of those beats ( i.e. 4/4= quarter notes, 7/8= eighth notes, etc.).

    Marie:
Can you offer some comment on strumming?

Tyler try to listen to what Marie is playing for the rhythm. It is mostly down strokes with some right hand muting - that is just lightly laying the flesh of your hand onto the string to make it sound slightly muted and bassy. If you listen to the rhythm closely and say it in your head you will get it. Not all the down strokes are playing all the strings, try and concentrate on the bottom 4 to see how you go getting the sound. Keep working it you will get it

4/4 time in 1/8 notes. There are 2 things happening:
      1. Alternate strum of bottom strings with palm mute = st-pm-st-pm-st-pm-st-pm as described below.
      2. Emphasis on beats 2 and 4
      1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &

Nice way of playing it but a bit annoying to stop every second. You should play the whole song then go part by part.

Useless. Out of sync. As soon as that crappy McDonald's ad comes on it screws up the sync. Shame.

Capo is supposed to be on the 4th fret. Look at every other lesson on it.
