For those who asked what is it called in the west - Taro ! Quoting wiki “... Alocasia odora (also called night-scented lily, Asian taro or giant upright elephant ear) is a flowering plant native to East and Southeast Asia (Japan, China, Indochina, Assam, Bangladesh, Borneo, Taiwan). In Manipur, local name is Hoomu. Alocasia odora (called Ray) can be used as medicine for the treatment of common cold in North Vietnam. With that said it can also be considered toxic therefore very important to eat cooked not raw

@@Shodeen1 it all depends where you live... if it is available or even allowed to bring in in case of no avalibilty.. in USA you can buy in Homedepo Lowe’s biulding & Garden materials or garden Nursery. It is quite common. Buy as plant or other wise as Tubers. Very prolific & easily invasive. I hope this helps you other wise where ever you are search on your local internet search engine. If you are in Asia many people got them even in none private property you can find them. Good luck with you endeavor 👍 had to be back & add on This plants love warm weather & semi tropic if you leave north states very cold freezing winters & falls I doubt it will work however I have had surprises in life that things grew when shouldn’t - so by all means why not try. Like Water but does not like to sit in chess pool of waters for those reasons growing n invidual containers is not invasive & can be brought into home or green house in freezing temp
