    Again a great job, and I mean on all the Mods you been doing on your BX. For some reason I couldn't leave any comments when I watched them on my iPad. I along with the other folks would love a day in your shop watching and learning from you as you work. I use to think I was good but now maybe just Ok but you my man do outstanding work. I also like how you go over everything as you do it better than when I was in college. Great Work Paul !

      Thanks Jerry. I to noticed I can't respond to comments on my iPad. Wonder whats up with that now? I appreciate your kind words on my work. I'm still learning like all of us. Dad would always say, "If it's worth doing then it's worth doing well". Dad is long passed but I still hear him saying that phrase and I strive to live by those words.

    Paul by, when I saw you plumb the grapple in the other video I knew it needed a cover desperate like. But what you did there is off the fucking hook. You're an artist man an that's for sure. Afore I came ill I was a ski lift mechanic, millwright, and cat mechanic, and I've met so many people who say "ifn I had his his tools why I'd..." or "must be nice to have alla that spare time anna shop". Those folks watch these videos like it's pornography an well they should cause that's as close as they'll get to ever doing it. You can buy tools, but sure as shit you can't buy talent. I'm still workin through all your videos but this is my favorite so far. I've rewind-ed it about fifty times now for to see my favorite bits. Keep up the good work man cause I for one am loving it!!

      snocat Well it's oblivious your heard it all too. I've been bashed to death for showing my work. I've been told that anyone can do it with all the tools and enough time.
      That being said the vast majority of folks appreciate the videos and I really appreciate your kind words. It encourages me to stay at it but there are times I tell myself it's the last one so thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Glad you liked the guard. Hey a little aluminum, a tig welder and anyone can do it lol.
      Hope your doing well. Thanks again.

    • @newfization
      @newfization Před 9 lety

      Paul Short Hahaa, I was watchin the video again and realized I wanted to add to the first comment. I learned a great trick from an old German Millwright named Heiner years ago. If you rub down your files with chalk (same stuff the school marms use) it makes em far easier to clean with the brush, especially aluminum which I dealt with alot. Keeps your files cuttin like new forever and I always keep a pack in the drawer to this day. Kathy can pick you up some when she goes to Staples lol. It also seems to act like a lubricant. Funny how I'd never heard of an aluminum file, I love watching these videos, you never know what you'll learn no matter your experience level!

    I was taught in school not to sharp the tungsten with griding disc. So according to what you say, can I sharp the tungsten with brand new disc? Is it only the matter of the steel molecules ?

    • @7863348
      @7863348  Před 10 lety

      You were taught right but guys sill do it. Most use a bench grinder dedicated to the tungsten. It's OK if you keep your tungsten pointing up on the grinding wheel and not across when sharpening. The best way Is the way I showed in the video in my opinion.

    Gotta love that Iron worker. Great job that turned out very well. What is the psi rating for those solenoid valves? I ask because I am trying to design a system for my boat hydraulic steering where I can remotely shut off my main steering valve (the two cylinders are different size so they can't run at the same time) which controls the inboard rudder and open the line to the trolling motor steering ram (outboard). I would like to do it from the steering station without having to run back and change manual three way valves. Gotta go to bed now I have been having a Paul Arama tonight. Catching up on your summers videos. Keep up the good work. I never see the aluminum files in the tool catalogs and they generally know nothing about them. I ran into them many years ago at Boeing Surplus (when it was open) in Seattle. If you are doing aluminum you just can't beat them and they don't clog nearly as much as a bastard.

      Don't really know the answer to your solenoid question. That was a kit I bought from Land Pride. I did some mods to it but nothing with the solenoids. Most people don't realize there are aluminum files. They are great. Nice to know you already knew about them. We only have a little over 350 videos so it won't take you long to catch up lol.

    Hi Paul, just wondering whether all of these nice improvements that you have made to the BX25-D is part of your business or is it just for your pleasure. I do have a question as to the third function valve on your BX25-D, is it a WR Long valve that I have been thinking of buying, or some other mfg.

      John I do a lot of custom work here at the shop along with everything else such as vehicle repairs, fabrication, machining, restoration.... Just about everything. I don't turn much down lol. As for the 3rd function valve. It's part of a grapple kit I bought from my Kubota dealer and sold under the name Land Pride and that was the only name on it. Nice kit, just needed some tweaking to make it a little better and that's what I did. There's more on our web site at, www.specialtyrepairs.ca
