I think it's great that they had a parade of just Pixar characters. After all some of the best Disney movies in the past decade or so were made by Pixar so it's only fair that those characters have a chance to be in the lime light once in a while!

They could possibly have monitors to see and copy movements. I know in the dark crystal movie, the evil bird puppet things had monitors inside for the person controlling the hands. Then ahian you can see a slightly see through part on the costume so they can see though it.
