@@EternallyGod That’s incorrect. As you see the dam failing, look at how many sticks got pulled up from the back of the dam (upstream side). He removed the easier bracing sticks, did remove a few harder lynch pin sticks, and let water wash through the holes, taking a lot of the mud with it and structurally weakening it. Are you in engineering at all? If so, you need a lot more study. The water pressure probably saved him 25-40% of the time it would’ve taken, and certainly the same (if not more) actual pulling power used. Don’t underestimate the work of water weight. There’s a reason water wheels were in such common use.

Looked like that dam has been rebuilt or repaired several times. Untill the beaver are gone it is a good candidate for a narrow deep cut. You made very good use of the strong water flow to remove more of the dam. I have never considered pulling sticks against the current, it worked a lot better than I thought keep it in mind for future dams. Looks like the downstream dam needs to be opened again.

0:25 I just realized, “comfortable” might be the easiest word to use to distinguish native English speakers from others. The way we pronounce it makes near 0 sense based on how it’s spelled. We say “comf-ter-ble” (the first part is like “come”, but with an “f” sound at the end). It must be so awkward outside of the US to even think that we’d say it like that, but it’s a pronunciation glitch that almost all American accents have. From New York, to southern, from Boston to Cali, almost everyone drops the second syllable and conflates the next two, even moving where the “r” should be.

Poor Beavers- loosing their home and food store. But they just do not belong in these drainage canals. I salute your low environmental impact methods. In my country we tend to just blow stuff up.
Once you have cleared all of the dams from this area, I would suggest that the land owner get an excavator to clean all the small trees from the channels. This would prevent further dam building in the short term.
