I really like order but believe that this method is ocd. I’ve listened to dr Ramani on her opinion of this method, I concur, speaking to inanimate objects and expecting material objects to bring you joy is exactly the same emotion out of control in hoarders. Our joy comes from good memories and a state of emotional happiness. My opinion.

Her method is unique. You are not doing room by room but rather category by category. Example clothes. So every stitch of clothing including jackets winter jackets summer clothes rain boots anything that you wear on your body including scarves hats whatever else falls into that category. Make one big pile and start sorting. It's very exhausting but it works.

that sounds minimalism for me. Minimalism is not a strict concept when people only have only a few things in their home/lives but only the things that they really need, and in Marie's term - "spark joy". While minimalism is quite a new concept people use on social media now, "tidiness" exists for a long time ago

Minimalists have different guidelines for the stuff they keep, like "only stuff that is either beautiful or useful" or "only what spark joy"... Some extreme ones have an specific amount of stuff or what fits in a backpack. But the point is to find what is essential to you as a person, it's a journey you have to take and each book has its own approach to figure that out... The outcome is unique as everyone is unique.

Many construction workers will do this for about $20 or $30 Cdn, or call a donation place such as used stoves, donation places for clothes, or garbage haulers, used furniture places etc.

I had to close my shop in lockdown. A local charity warehouse collected the furniture I didn’t manage to sell. Small donation for their trouble.

The key is in the visualisation and writing process done in the beginning. If you spell out how your garage needs to look like and then sort and examine each object, it works out!

She is pronouncing it the right way, in Japanese the "e" at the end of "Marie" is said like "Mari - eh"

Not everyone has to learn English. There are tons of expats in Asia who never learn an Asian language. Besides, Learning a language takes a long time and there are long awkward periods where the learner sounds silly in the new language. Since she's a public figure, it's often better to use an interpreter, plus it adds to her mystique.

I’ve learned to fold undies and fold then roll sports bras. It saves space and looks tidier. But dang doesn’t it take much longer to fold all those scraps of fabric, lol. Maybe an extra hour every other week to fold underthings? Calming though, worth it-for now.
