I met Lt. Col. Jefferson during a layover at DFW Airport several years ago. He was wearing his pilot jacket and a ballcap marked Tuskegee Airmen. I introduced myself and cited I was a Lockheed Martin Aeronautics employee. His eyes lit up and we had a great conversation about his experience in WWII and his post-WWII challenges due to racism. He was on his way to the Rose Bowl Parade, where he was a featured vet on a float dedicated to the Tuskegee Airmen. A passionate and dedicated airman, articulate, and a real hero. I counted it a blessing to have shook his hand and listened to his experiences. He sadly passed away in June at age 100. RIP, sir!
Amazing men, to be honored forever and always. Long live Lt. Jefferson!!
Such wonderful history captured for us, thank you to all of you warriors, great inspiration.
There needs to be a part 2 of the movie. And show other men's experiences like his, during the war.
Thanks for a wonderful interview and for preserving their stories! I salute each and every person who has served. Thank you for your service.
A Salute is a show of respect and recognition of rank! He was a better Man than most Americans were to their own Soldiers and Sailor's!
A true hero one all young black me should know about and look up to.. He is a hero of the best kind... God bless him.. Great interview.
What a great interview.
Fantastic Interview! Many thanks to Lt. Col. Jefferson!
Amazing stories!
Joe, I had the pleasure of meeting Lt. Col. Jefferson (and several other Tuskegee Airmen) in 2007 at the Gathering of Mustangs Airshow in Columbus, Ohio. What an incredible gentleman this man is. I was mesmerized by his story. I bought his book and he gave me his business card. I have tried to both call and email him recently, with no success. Can you tell me if he is still living? He'd be 97 at this point. Thanks for posting this.
Lt. Col. Alexander Jefferson (born November 15, 1921) as of 11/24/2019 Col. Jefferson just turned 98 !

AWESOME INTERVIEW!!!!
On having his airplane shot by ground fire:
"Weren't you excited?"
"Hell no, I'm so busy doing what I had to do"
"Weren't you scared?"
"Heck no, I thought about it, about two weeks later"
"What do you do?"
"You're going about 400 miles an hour. Shell came up through the floor and went out a hole in the top of the canopy. Thoughts came"
What an amazing man of honor. Met Mr. Jefferson back in 2018. Remarkable and very humble man
