Takeshi's Cashew (live @Into the Great Wide Open 2023)

Taking inspiration from Anatolian funk, Krautrock, Cumbia, and Afrobeat, the Austrian instrumental band Takeshi’s Cashew are reveling in their mix of classic and modern styles. Formed after a series of psychedelic jam sessions, the five-piece band employs a myriad of global percussive toys, funk guitars, and lots of flutes, to create their psychedelic, Turkish-sufi-rock sound.

In this Vrije Geluiden Session, recorded at ‪@intothegreatwideopen8309‬, Takeshi's Cashew performs some songs from the new album ‘Enter J's Chamber’; an evolvement on every level. Complex arrangements with light hearted melodies, the essence of a jam in a structured manner, the dynamic of a live gig on a clear recording. Pairing up with Jasper Geluk and his cozy, tape driven recording studio puts this album on another level. Takeshi's Cashew truly know their craft and finally have the opportunity to present themselves with a new livery, but true to their roots.
