Let's take a stroll down memory lane and revisit the sunny days of the SCAD Sand Arts Festival on Tybee Island! We had an amazing time celebrating the artistry of SCAD students and alumni, as they showcased their talent in sculpting spectacular structures right on the beach. Plus, the fiber works by renowned artist Thomas Jackson added an extra layer of magic to the event!
🎨 *Recap of the Competition:*
SCAD students and alumni came together to compete solo or in groups, wowing spectators and judges alike with their incredible creations. With several awards up for grabs, including cash prizes and prestigious honors, the competition was fierce!
🏆 *Honors and Prizes:*
- *SCAD Star Power Award:* $3,000 (Alumni), $3,000 (Undergraduate and graduate students)
- *Best in Show Award:* $1,200
- *SCAD Foundation Studies Student Group Award:* $1,000 (Winner), $800 (Runner-up)
- *SCAD Alumni Award:* $1,000 (Winner), $800 (Runner-up)
🎉 *Category-Specific Winners:*
Participants competed for exciting category-specific prizes, including:
- Sandcastle
- Sand relief
- Sand sculpture
- Air
- Sand jam (drawing)
🌞 *Reminiscing on the Day:*
We had a blast soaking up the sun, enjoying picnics, and marveling at the incredible artworks created right before our eyes. It was truly a day to remember!
