- Not going to lie, i thought this Chorus Pedal was going to be pretty boring.. but wow i was wrong. The Eventide TriceraChorus has built-in modulation to move the rate and mix amounts adding for an instantly unique sound to anything you send through it. Modulation the rate it probably my favorite thing, take a slow swell to a wide panned standstill of lushness and have the rate move around subtly or wildly as you play and enter in new notes. This pedal is great for synths since it has a dip switch for line level as well! TL:DR i was blown away by the speed of editing on this pedal.

Mr. Fingers, Can you feel it - bass sound is Juno 6(0)'s sub oscillator only with the Juno chorus obviously :) Indeed one of the best bass sounds in house music production.

This is a common myth! The "Can You Feel It" bass (per Larry Heard) is a Jupiter 6, the 'chorus' sound is envelope modulated PWM.

I’ve got a maxed out H9 but never used this algorithm on it. Definitely trying it now. Nothing beats the chorus on my Juno 60 though. Great video as usual.

loooovely! honestly, would take a full video (or 3) on the Launchpad Pro, think it's low-key amazing. Been using the custom modes to give myself faders etc in the Octatrack, would love to hear what you did exploring that realm!

Had my Adrenalinn 3 as my main guitar preamp (Hiwatt emulator) since it came out as the second version, mod effects are the best I’ve had on any effects box, but I haven’t tried tried out this idea… thanks for another sleepless night…

Agree on the aesthetic. They do sound amazing though. I have the UltraTap and it’s easily my favorite delay. I know it’s just one algorithm, but it’s a very flexible one and the hands on control take it to another level. I’d love to run this pedal>UltraTap>Midiverb II.

Damn! I thought the sounds you were getting out of it at the beginning of the video were lush. That was nothing compared to the magic at the end.

Once more, amazing sounds and jam -- I expected no less, and that chorus is killer. Is that Push 2 you are using as a controller? Can it work standalone in that capacity (as a controller keyboard I mean) or do you have to have Ableton Live running?
The Push 2 is only a controller so you're absolutely right- it needs to be connected to a computer w/ software. It may also have the ability to control external hardware, I'm not sure, but it definitely doesn't make any sounds by itself.
@@justink8156 I am aware it's a controller only. :) But the question is: can it pilot a synth/sampler/any midi sound source without having Ableton Live and thus a computer running? If the answer is yes it's a huge plus. But I doubt it somehow...
@@patbreacadh Ah gotcha, that I am not sure of since I don't have a Push 2. For that you'd have to look into if it has MIDI OUT, sequencing abilities, and also if the usb can output midi (for devices that don't have a regular "din" midi in). I'm sure there's lots of good videos on it, good luck!
@@patbreacadh and @Justin K I can answer some of these questions, as I have a Push 2.
First of all, Ricky is using a Launchpad here, not an Ableton Push. looks like the newest Launch Pad Pro but I am not 100% sure.
For the Ableton Push 2:
It only has USB out, so while it doesn't require a computer, it does require a USB MIDI host. Additionally, when used without a control script, none of the pads light up and the screen does absolutely nothing. It still sends basic midi and CC for all the pads and knobs tho.
Ableton has a public API for the Push 2, so you can pretty easily write your own control script for it to have the screen/buttons do whatever the hell you want. I personally have some custom scripts in both Max (Ableton) and Java (Bitwig) and it's pretty awesome what can be done. But again you need a MIDI host capable of running your script, so yeah a computer pretty much is needed to actually get the most out of the device.
If you are a heavy ableton user or a user who likes to program their own midi controller/control surface scripts, Push 2 is a great option. If you want something standalone for sending midi to hardware, definitely look elsewhere.

Does the left and right mix use a phase-inverted output? Because the result of this review is that I believe the chorus is playing in mono. Is that what you are hearing as well?

Was the pedal running in stereo for this video? Or is it just really subtle? I was having a hard time noticing it (using headphones).
It didn't sound stereo to me. Maybe the center setting was dominating the mix? But more likely it was mono. For the fullness accomplished, that's a good sign, but I would liked to have heard the actual size of the chorus...

almost al my samples sound liek those mr.fingers square waves. honestly very basic soudn deisgn always has the most impact for some reason. was turned onto that noise and i used to make it with a Korg EMX1 elctribe i think back in the day., but that was well after the mr.fingers tune. I have a variable of those patch in reason I still return to for wtrong square basslines that are nice and rubbery.
