- This is my first UK outing with the VX9 Vortex. The machine is nothing like anything Garrett have brought out before.
There are improvements to it everywhere, the most obvious feature is its reactivity speed, it is very light and balanced and most importantly was locking onto signals and coins so clearly. The machine is completely stable, even running it in MDMF zero mode, with sensitivity up full, its quiet.. its early days but I cant ever seeing myself returning to the Apex or the AT Max.

Same as me I went out the day after and liked it even more,
I’m really rooting for Garrett on this new machine. It’s the last of the great American Detectorist companies. Fisher fell out of favor years ago with technology, the flop on the aqua pulse or whatever it was. They should have worked hard on SMF and made newer land and especially waterproof detectors. Then when they screwed all of their lifetime dealers that made the company, turned me off to them. White’s never did excel at multi frequency, now they’re gone, absorbed into Garrett, but they need a hit with this machine. I started with Garrett in 1973, so fond of the company.
Fabulous permission! Great video and Great hunt. I will definitely be getting one of those detectors. Love how stable it is. Love the three bars. Really love the color.

Awesome Dawn. Vortex looks less like Lego in the field; and bottom line is; its all about the performance👍 Looking forward to seeing how the machine develops in real conditions, and who better to put it through its paces ❤️

very good video, only that I would have liked to see on the screen what the targets looked like, the 3 bars, that differentiated it from other detectors, I would have liked to see it in action but it did not appear on camera

I really wish I would have known about this machine a month ago. I retired my Garrett A/T Max and bought a Nokta Legend. I’m happy with the Legend, but I think I’d like this machine better just because I like how Garrett machines work.
What surprised me and Chris was that we picked it up and started using it straight away, took us weeks to get used to the max from the pro and 400i
I like the colour too, well you certainly found a lot, and the silver top thingy was a great find. But the best bit was your dance and the cartwheel. 😂😂

Im going to go for the Viper first. I dug a target on Sunday it was about a pin pointer and half deep, it was only a bit of a coke can but the depth and signal was amazing.. and that was with the Raider coil

Love the colour , great choice Garrett,would love to have heard the signals,maybe soon we can 😊,The last Garrett detector I bought was the ATX, this might be the next one I get,I started out detecting in the 1970,s with a Garrett ADS deepseeker more than 50 years ago,I still have that machine and if I stick six nine volt batteries in it it still works.Hows that for reliability and longevity 😮😊 love your show keep on keeping on😊😊😊😊😊

I have been looking forward to this video and am so pleased you like the Vortex. I also love the Sports Car Blue, but I reckon if your only worry is the colour, you aren't paying attention to the machine itself. It looks simple to use and I bet you can run it, just by turning it on. Did you hear that one of the guys from Regton's found a gold coin in Italy on his first outing? They were on The Big Detecting Show. Your Farm Permission is stunning, I would also get in and around the stone house especially inside if it has a dirt floor.
Yes Marcus found the gold in an earlier test in the UK in Kent :-) it is simple to use, picked it up straight away

Quite the teaser vid. You show yourself using the pin pointer to locate the target? How come we’re not seeing the coil sweeping around?

Well christened their dawn it must of rained cartwheel out your way at some point your bagging them all . I think as regards new vortex it would of been suited to be in the yellow colours as the rest of the range ,it just identifies it as Garret its like there logo is yellow , thats just my point of view tho how about anybody else out there ??????

The sound on this detector sounds like an AT- Max with a body kit, I own the AT-Max good detector good but not deep + chatty good for starter
This is very deep dug up a bit of a can the other day that was a pinpointer and half depth, solid signal
It loks very nice, but probably out of my financial reach, especially as I now have arthritis in my hip, so struggle to walk very far.
thats a shame, I think it starts around £460 for the VX5
No multi salt in this beta version? I never had an Apex, i just stuck with Ace 250 for 15 years lol.
There is a multisalt I think you put it in beach mode then choose the multisalt from there

Wait, they are taking pre-orders yet still showing tests with a test model? Has anyone who actually tests out different metal detectors to see how they really run got their hands on one yet? (Narrator) "No testers have been sent one like any other company would."

Seems like a detector that made it late to the game with missing features that all other top brands already have..... really no new breaking technology on this machine, i don't think it would even compete with my 600 that didn't see the light of day in three years

It does LOOK good but you never let us HEAR it and that is my make or break feature - PERIOD.
From what I've heard so far, it's way too jarring and stressful for me and I really can't deal with that at all, which makes me truly sad because I really was interested in getting one.
As I said at the start this isnt a finished machine and I have been asked not to show certain things until its had its update.

The new Garrett Vortex aka “Smurf machine” is a disaster! Doesn’t even compete with Minelabs entry level machines. Garrett cost cutting all over this machine with the same coil/headphones as the 15 year old at pro. If only Garrett spent as much money on product development as celebrity colaberations they may have been competitive. Garrett is going downhill fast.
