- I'm closing in on 1,200 miles with my 2024 Ford F150 Raptor R and I've got some impressions. Mostly good as I'd expect, but some less than ideal things as well so I figured I'd cover it all. In summary, I absently love this truck and can't wait to showcase it to y'all some more here very soon!

How much was the full PPF?
Amazing truck. I have a tremor and was considering trading in for a raptor 37, but worried about the width / parking.
Maybe i missed it, but did you get rid of your 13 GT500?
@@dirkx2350I never had a 13, I still have my 14
You don’t do 1,000 mile oil change? I’ve done that with every knew vehicle I’ve ever had and never once a bit of engine trouble. Wear metals are much higher in the first 1,000 miles and I don’t think it Would hurt even though it is 11.5 quarts of 5W-50.
first 10 secs told me that bro got money from the view of his GARAGES! congrats bro blessing fr
He wasn’t lying about more content being uploaded, this is amazing 🙌🏼
That starting issue is something you want the dealer to fix but then again… it’s the dealer…. Have a 250 Tremor that bounced left and right going down a road, for 8,000 miles, and the dealer just said “it’s a lifted Super Duty, that’s how they drive”. I could have taken it else where but I just swapped the suspension out with a Carli kit. No more bouncing. Love me my Fords but damn… the QC these days…
I hear that, my 14’ GT500 has a bad transmission (had a warranty thankfully) but they took 2 weeks of diagnostics to tell me they could find an issue. ($400 fee later) all for me to show them the grinding issue on the spot for them to finally agree to do something. Awful servicing.
@@TexasRevving damnit, hate that… the price we pay for the Ford toys. I’m a sucker for Ford Performance…
When I bought the first GT500 (2007) I was amazed that when I was going 90-100 mph, that the 5.2 wanted more. It was more than just raw power, it was almost asking you, telling you, pleading with you to give it more juice. Awesome feeling. I still have about 1 year until my R will be done and can’t wait. Thanks for your reviews brother.
My non-R Raptor is one of the best daily drivers I've ever had. On road trips, it is perfect. Except for fuel mileage....lol.
Loved your last video. Can’t believe I opened CZcams and saw you posted a couple mins ago. Love the color of the raptor! Thank you for the content!
Does it only have a delayed start when you use the key? Or if you push to start the truck too?
I just got my 24 Raptor R 3 weeks ago, it did this once so far. I had a 2020 Shelby GT500 Golden Ticket for 3.5 years and it did it as well. Never was a big deal
I have the exact same truck and I just installed the DBM cooler so I could put a hidden winch in it. I have had all the same issues your's has had with starting and on start it never gives you enough time to choose to stay in sport. I am excited as you are do get out and beat on it doing raptor things. Great vids man!
"R" button on steering wheel can save custom setting including drive mode. I use sport mode with sport steering, baja exhaust and baja suspension. Press and hold "R" to save settings and every time you get in double press "R" to return to that mode
Oh yeah I did that so that double press is certainly better. I just wish it started like that! Minor thing nonetheless
It might be simpler if you program your "R" button settings so when you start it you can just press the single button.
Vapor lock is a thing on the older carburetor engines but these do not have that issue.
It will be most likely a internal check valve on the fuel pump or possibly a regulator if it has one. The dealer may be able to check the fuel pressure drop when turned off.
Long crank after hot soak is almost always a fuel pressure drop situation. Fuel pressure leaks down and fuel rail drains causing the longer than normal crank. Usually a bad check valve in the fuel pump. Just agreeing with this comment, as a retired Ford Senior Master technician. I also live in Texas and opted for the stock 24 Raptor and Whipple charged my 2023 Platinum 5.0 for my street truck. Loving the new Ford trucks!!
Amazing video bro your garage is a dream garage with your amazing collections..big truck but fits in your garage ❤
Great video!
NICE TrUCK !! My pet peeve is the dashboard startup theatrics. I don't need to watch a movie about my car every time I start it.
I’m with you 😂
Awesome truck man! I'm super jealous of your car line up lol
Thank you sir!
Thanks for video. Have one in production so hope they may fix that start issue. From forum others have had much more issues with quality control so I have big list to look over once I get delivery. But question for you all your cars are backed in to garage; you don’t get car fumes into house??
Have you set up your Raptor MyMode? You can save your preferred steering, suspension, exhaust at startup, and I believe a few other things. That might help with saving the settings at startup. Awesome truck. I had a Gen2 v6 for 6 years and traded it for a Gen3 v6, but that Raptor R is a dream truck. Awesome color choice. Enjoy it!
For the middleseat seatbelt thing.
You clearly have a phantom rider. Even those in the afterlife realize how badass this truck is. Can't blame them.
Thank you for buckling them up.
Safety first.
Could be an issue with fuel pump. Most have a valve that prevents drain back. So it could be that the fuel is draining back. Hence the extended crank.
👍😎nice look of Ranger Raptor, there’s more good things about the truck than bad
Helpful info -- thanks.
Sweet rig man
Driving with an air of undeniable coolness
Damn boy she movin out 🫣
R button on the steering wheel to save your drive modes, steering, suspension and exhaust 👍
I have the 2019 with exact the same thinng...clacking sound on engine bay! Like you said,,,,if its seats or on parked for a period of time. I always notice it early morning cold start (overnight), on my way to work. Its annoying cracking clacking sounds ...I hope is nothing serious so far no leaks or lose inside the engine bay or underneath and no error code too. I never had it before until this year 2024.
You have to hold down the R button on the steering wheel to save your settings. Then when you start the car you have to press the R and then press it again to get in the “My Mode”
Right, the GT500 has the same thing for the Shelby modes. Difference is when I first get into the GT500, it remembers my steering and exhaust mode at the very least. This truck doesn’t for some reason. I have to double press the R button.
That starting issue has happened a few times on my 23. Intermittent grinding noise on cold starts from under the hood, parking break sensor goes off even if the brake is off and the ac will die on long road trips. Get an igla kill switch bro. Saved mine from being stolen!
I think a 720HP super car vs a 720HP super truck video is in order 😏
Oooo I like it!
When I bought a 2019 used leased Jeep Cherokee last year, it got to where it would start to lag when the ignition was activated. Sounded a lot like this. It sounded like it was trying and trying to start until it finally would. Found out it was a bad battery with bad cells. Just an idea. But sick Raptor bro!
My 2023 tremor f150 passenger tow hook is crooked too. After looking at other late model f150s online and in person, I noticed this is very common issue
that 12 o'clock thing is odd, my Ranger Raptor has the orange stripe, also the settings not saving is happening on my RR also.
I noticed every 100 cranks or so it hesitates to start. Other than that, it’s thankfully quite awesome!
You need to set your preferred driver settings to the "R" button. Just double tap it every time you get in.
My 24 R is doing the extended crank as well.
Super odd, we’re all in this together 😂
Do you find the ignition delays with both the key fob and the power button inside the vehicle?
I have a 2023 raptor at right at 1k miles I had the entire left cylinder bank misfire violently shaking the truck. This happened twice back to back then cleared up. I took it to ford they were not able to recreate the problem so I didn’t have them touch it I now have 4k miles and the issue hasn’t popped up since just worries me that it may happen again at any time the QC is just so bad these days. Beautiful truck though great color congrats!
I have always felt like ford needed brembos on my 17 raptor to help scrub speed, how are the brakes in the R?
I just bought a 24 Raptor, not an R, and I have had the same issue with the seated people in the back when it's just a bag or backpack screaming at me that someone in the back doesn't have a seat belt on.
How does this compare to a standard F150? As a newcomer to the truck world, I've quickly fallen in love with my F150 and am already thinking about future upgrades and trade-ups. However, I've already ruled out a Super Duty-its size is probably more than I can handle, especially as I'm still adjusting to navigating and parking the F150 in tight city spaces, crowded parking lots, and apartment living in a big city. I'm concerned that the Raptor, with its wider wheelbase, might also be more challenging to maneuver than the standard model.
I have a 22 3.5 picking up my 24 R this week. The Raptor will always default to normal settings you have to program your R button to your favorite settings and hit the R butting when you start it up to activate them. They all do this it is normal.
Are you hitting the"R" button on the steering wheel to save your settings?
I am, just a double press away. Not a big deal but still wish it remembered
I think it’s heat soak, vapor issue. My old gen 1 with a whipple runs the cooling pump quite a while after the engine is shut off. I’m up north where 70 ° is a warm day and don’t see that issue.
Question about my rpm on my 2024 but when driving the RPM starts at 1 but immediately jumps to 3 then 7.
Is this normal. Do they not read RPM with decimals but into whole number.
Sorry if dumb question
I know it’s not in manual and the 2024 now read the gear you are in which previous did not
GOALS!
My f-250 gas truck does that long crank. It's super annoying and not managed to sort it yet as it never does it in front of the dealer.
You gonna be a texas raptor run in june?
God i love this truck so much….
Wow hes also got the perfect car set up 😅😅😅
out of curiosity, and understanding it would surely be too difficult anyway, but if you were to drive as conservatively as possible, low revs, always within speed limits, what's the absolute best mpg you would get with this R model? thanks
Still have the gen 1?
What part of Texas are you in
Where’s the GTD Application Video?
I have a f150 tremor and i felt the same about the exhaust big difference from your truck how ever i swapped the mufflers with black widow mufflers could be a option for u endless the valves are in the mufflers, theyre good quality light and super affordable mufflers.
Awesome car collection. That green on the Raptor R looks sick. Personally I don’t buy a 700+ hp car/truck to be quiet. I think it’s a waste of technology/energy/resources to have “quite” mode in a vehicle that’s supposed to be extreme in every sense of the word whether it be the gt500 or the raptor R.
Agreed!
What do you do for a living?
Just my opinion but I’d put some stainless steel in the wall there the exhaust tips are on the Raptor. Would be easy to clean when the exhaust gets suity and may help prevent heat damage in the event you let it idle there.
Let’s gooooo!
Mannnnn how do you not at least try to bait the TRX into a quick pull for the vid. 😂😂
Hahaha, missed opportunity 😂
Nice vehicles. What do you do for a living?
OF ghey corn
that extended crank is very common in ford trucks ... my works fleet is all ford and all the 2021 / 2022 models do this alll the time
is a titanium exhaust a thing on these
No exhaust options from factory
You can turn off the rear seat belt notifications in the screen
Oh, well that solves that. Thank you!
Bring out to Texas Raptor Run in June
Cranking a naturally aspirated motor with a big super charger ain’t easy… wonder if it’s the same starter they had on the GT350 they were notorious for failing I believe.
FYI 4x4 on pavement is a no no. Only meant for off-road use. Manual and dash states this. I believe you can switch to sport and manually take it out of 4x4
I usually do, funny enough when you put into sport mode on the dash it says it’s for street driving, yet it puts it in 4x4.
@@TexasRevving Ford needs some UX love. I’ll be the first to volunteer with all their performance vehicles. Send em my way!
Sport mode should be putting the truck into 4wd auto, which is much different than 4x4. The trx has a 80/20 split of power all the time.. 4wd auto is fine. Have used mine many times. 17 Raptor.
@@johnt6673that makes sense then! My first thought was “why the hell would ford do that?”
Do u miss your gen 1?
Certainly, Gen 1s are so badass
We need some gt350 v gt500 action
Idk if you backed the truck up far enough
I have really been toying with the idea of a getting a Raptor R. Prefer the TRX but now costing 10-12k more it doesn’t make sense. Only thing holding me back is that it would be my only vehicle and it looks like a bitch to park lol
Biggest knock I have with the TRX is it can’t go into RWD only. I wanna slide these things!
As a South African dude we only get the ranger raptor down here and at its price point its spot on but holy shit if we were to import this bad boy it better beat the fuck out the ranger which it doesn't really do all that well so all in all ranger with mods is a bargain down here.
According to the manual, the truck always reverts back to normal mode once the ignition is turned off. Completely normal
Oh I know it’s normal, I just don’t like it. My GT500 remembers mysettings. Not sure why this truck is any different.
@@TexasRevving I agree with you. It should remember but even with all these little annoyances, these trucks are great. I have a shelter green Raptor too. The color is so insane, i get people asking me about it everywhere i go. Enjoy the truck!
Sounds like either your fuel pump or starter
7000+ lbs the same weight as the Gen 2 Raptor.
I own a 2012 Gen 1 Raptor since new and I love it. Its the longest I have ever kept a vehicle. I've liked the Gen 3 since it came out and would like to drive one, but i'm afraid these new Raptors are too plush and luxurious. Too much tech. More Platinum than Raptor. I dont want my Raptors to feel like a Platinum or Limited.
Bro what do you do for a living to afford these vehicles 😂
I was thinking the same thing 🤔
what about the apple carplay my dude
Love it, just can’t use it if I’m recording on my phone
How is 1200 miles not alot my dad had his vehicle for idk like 3 years and it probably hasnt even reached 1000 miles
I think your dad doesn't drive the car
What kind of build quality to expect for over $100,000? I mean, c'mon! LOL
Starting issues with as much as this thing costs?.....NOT acceptable.....just my two cents.....
Guaranty now
My raptor R doesn’t not start like that take it to ford asap
Definitely not worth it for $130k for sure
Maybe 75k and I’m being generous
It’s ford even if it is the Ford raptor R with 720 horsepower. It’s still a ford and it’s going to give problems. I’ve them all and I’ve had better luck with Toyota and Chevy when it comes to reliability and lasting longer and lower cost of ownership.
Rather get the super Baja
PPF on a $100k+ vehicle, PPF for a Raptor, not so much. LOL
I mostly enjoyed the video outside of “letting the TRX have this one”. Only thing you need to let the TRX have is an BIG L
Haha, next time!
What the F do you do for a living
Return that crap.
Ford quality control is horrendous.
What a weak and tacky video🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m not even sure what that’s supposed to mean 😂
The good- nothing.
The bad- too expensive for a clown car
The ugly- itself. What an ugly update ford has made.🤦♂️
