  • This video is a complete drug review of tirzepatide (Zepbound), the latest FDA-approved injectable weight loss medication for obese and overweight individuals. Tirzepatide is given as a once a week injection under the skin. It is the first “dual-agonist” weight loss drug because it mimics two incretin hormones in the body, GLP-1 and GIP. In a large clinical study involving non-diabetic obese patients, tirzepatide at a dose of 15 mg weekly demonstrated an 18% reduction in weight compared to placebo after 72 weeks of treatment. The dose must be slowly titrated upward to reach the target dose to reduce the incidence of gastrointestinal adverse effects. The cost of Zepbound is $1060 for a one month’s supply. Patients who are commercially insured may be eligible for a discounted price.

      Did you eat healthier right away and maybe that's why you didn't have any side effects? I'm getting ready to start this and I'm a little worried about the side effects. I don't eat much already and not a lot of sugar. Did you start slow and go higher in dose??

    I've been on Mounjaro for 3 months (just starting my 4th month). No side effects and have lost nearly 30 pounds. Very frustrated about the cost involved! I'm on Medicare and I'm NOT diabetic; therefore, I have to pay full price for the prescription. I just wish Eli Lilly would help out with some kind of co-pay!!! My blood pressure is down, I'm not longer officially "obese" and on the way to being a much healthier person!!!

      Eli Lilly DOES help out. Go to their website immediately and sign up for savings card. It brings the price down from $1200 to $550. You might have to switch to brand Zepbound which is exactly the same thing as Mounjaro. Zepbound is the one for obesity.

    I am in 2.5 of Zepbound. It is my 3rd week and haven’t noticed much of a difference in my appetite or cravings. Is that normal at this dose? I had been on Wegovy for only one month at the starting dose and wasn’t hungry or having any cravings. I couldn’t continue the Wegovy due to the supply issue. Also, thank you for this very informative video.

    • @thepharmeztutor716
      @thepharmeztutor716  Před 4 měsíci +5

      The 2.5 mg dose of Zepbound is for treatment initiation and not for weight loss management. You will probably need to titrate the dose up to at least 5 mg to achieve a response. It’s always best to ask these questions to your prescribing doctor to be sure in your specific case.
